Subunits

Subunits (SU) is a hardware part which compute• R99 traffic (licensed by “R99 Channel elements” feature)• HSDPA traffic (licensed by “HSDPA processing set” features)• HSUPA traffic (licensed by “HSUPA processing set” feature)• CCCH traffic (licensed by “CCCH processing set” feature)

FSMF system module

FSMF include 5.5 SU:• 1.125 SU are dedicated for HSDPA• 4.375 SU are dedicated for R99, HSUPA

1 SU compute 96 CE => 420 CE is maximum of WBTS capacity. But it can be reduced.

FSMF system module

FSMF include 5.5 SU:• 1.125 SU are dedicated for HSDPA• 3.875 SU are dedicated for R99, HSUPA plus (for example)• 0.5 SU for 1 additional CCCH processing set due to increased “cell

range”

Cell rangeWCEL parameter which • blocks call attempts behind it’s value• reduce max available CE by means of• increasing usage of SU for CCCH processing

Allocation table

Example:WBTS 2/2/2, Cell range = 35 km for each carrierÞ Cell range of WBTS = (2+2+2)*35

km = 210 kmÞ Max available CE will be reduced

to 372 CE

Solution is increasing SU capacitySubmodule FBBA• adds 6 SU to FSMF capacity• maximum is 2 items

2 FBBA: 16.375 SU for R99, HSUPA . Max CE capacity – up to 1572 CE 1 FBBA: 10.375 SU for R99, HSUPA .Max CE capacity – up to 996 CE
