Guy Bromby is the Managing Director of ThinJack Ltd, based in Aberdeenshire and operating globally.Born in Hong Kong, Guy’s career began in the upstream oil industry in the mid-1980s. He has since gained experience in key areas including offshore operations,

technical and business development. ThinJack is well known for the safe, fast and rigless separation of seized well flanges and a specialist consultancy service which quantifies and evaluates options for their safe removal.

Bill Hare is an Event Director with leading Australian event organiser Diversified Communications. He is responsible for all aspects of the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition & Conference (AOG). His passions include single malt whisky, and is not fussed if it is Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Campbeltown or Islay!

Matt Thomas is the Global Client Director for ASCO Group. He joined the company as Australasia CEO in 2013 before relocating to Aberdeen and previously worked as Senior Vice President for SGS in the mineral industry. Building on the success the previous international Gateway events, today will offer a platform for knowledge sharing and networking between two leading energy hubs. It is intended to act as a springboard to further strengthen the links between the locations as well as facilitating additional opportunities between participating businesses. Aberdeen and Perth are both founding members of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) and both are globally recognised as international energy

Provost William Howatson was educated at at Edinburgh University where he was awarded an MA Hons in Scottish Historical Studies. He was first elected as councillor in 1999, and this is the second time he has been elected as Provost of Aberdeenshire. The role of Provost is wide ranging, involving all sectors of the local community and representing Aberdeenshire at local, national and international events.

Barney has been a local councillor for over ten years, prior to which he was Chief Executive of a Charity, a Head Teacher, an Ombudsman for Housing and has also worked off-shore in the chemical and computing industries. An authoritative voice on local and international economic affairs, he is President of Hyer, the regional organisation for hydrogen and electro-mobility,

Chair of the North Sea Commission Smart Regions Group, and Ambassador for the Civis Portus project. On a lighter note, he has appeared on national quiz shows Mastermind and Brain of Britain.

John Atkins is the Agent General for Western Australia in London with responsibility throughout Europe.As the State’s representative, John’s role is to raise the profile and knowledge throughout Europe about the high quality of Western Australian products and expertise. To this end, key objectives include expanding the awareness of and the market penetration for a range of Western Australian commodities, manufactured goods and services. Other important objectives include encouraging further European investments in the Western Australian economy, promoting infrastructure investment and technology, education and scientific exchange and promoting the immigration of businesses and skilled people to Western Australia to meet the needs of a strongly growing economy.Prior to his appointment in June 2015, John was the Chair of the board of Lotterywest and had been an active Director of many companies and organisations covering the fields of Finance, Property, Minerals and Oil and Gas exploration and production, Infrastructure and Science.John has also been active in the not for Profit and Community sectors, having sat on the boards of Hospitals, Research institutes and Charitable organisations.John was the inaugural Chair of Committee for Perth, President and Chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Western Australia and a member of the board of the Australian Chamber of Commerce.Prior to that John had a distinguished legal career in Western Australia and Australia as a partner in the major law firm Freehills and its predecessors. He held a number of leadership positions in those firms including, Managing Partner, Head of Office, International and National partner and Board Member.

gateway‘In it’ from the start, Helen as worked in the oil & gas industry for more years than she would care to remember. Most recently she has worked in many industry organisations within the energy sector. Helen re-opened and ran the Energy Industries Council’s Scottish office in Aberdeen for five years prior to a two year stint in Azerbaijan is In-country Manager with QEDi. On her return to Aberdeen she took up the post of Business Development Manager with ITF (Industry Technology Facilitator). On moving to the central belt 7 years ago Helen took up the post of CEO of the Industrial and Power Association. Latterly through Energy Networks Helen has worked as Knowledge Transfer Manager for NEL in East Kilbride and for the last two years with the HVM Catapult Oil & Gas Consortium. Nothing pleases her more than connecting people in business ventures.
