WindCatcher Plus : Technical requirements summary
For: Windows 7, XP-Pro and Vista
Section 1:
1) Hardware requirements:
These requirements will vary depending on the intended use. It can run on a laptop or it can run on a work station for production environment. Also keep in mind that WC+ is designed to take advantage of Multi Processing. See details below:
Minimum Requirements: Processor: Centrino/Pentium Core 1.4-1.8 GHz, with single processing OS: Win7, XP Professional or Vista RAM: 2GB
Typical Requirements: Processor: i7Core/ i5Core with 8/4 way processing OS: Win7 Professional, XP Pro or Vista. Ram 4-8GB.
Section 2:
1) Install .NET Framework 4.0
Please install Microsoft Framework 4.0 from
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851
The link includes “Microsoft .NET Framework 4 client profile Framework 4
Extended”. Once Microsoft Framework 4 is installed, users can verify complete
installation by checking following installs using program list.
2) Regional Settings:
3.1) Select Language & Region
3.2) Select Change Location
3.3) Select English (United States)
3.4) Select United States
3) Steps to enable Pre defined Reports
4.1 Right click on Computer & click Manage
4.2 Click on Services & select “ActiveX Installer (AxInstSV)” service & click Start
4) Run Command prompt as a administrator & launch it as admin.& type following command
“bcdedit /set {current} nx alwaysoff “
5) Disable user account control by going into Control Panel/User account and Family Settings. User
must have Admin rights on his/her machine. ( These can be reset after Installation)
6) Change Notify settings to “Never notify” then click OK
7) Restart the computer.
8) Once rebooted, click on Start menu. Right click on Computer to run properties.
9) Click on Advance system settings
10) Choose Performance settings
11) Adjust for Best Performance.
12) If a previous version of WindCatcher Plus is already installed on the computer, it must first be
uninstalled using the Windows Add/Remove program before proceeding with the installation of
the new version. The Add/Remove program may be accessed from the Windows Control Panel.
13) All windows applications must be closed prior to WindCatcher installation. If stand alone license
(Dongle) is in use, the user should unplug the dongle before starting the installation
14) Run Windcatcher installation Files.
Section 3:
Excel 2007/2010:
1. Browse onto ‘Excel Options’
2. Select ‘Trust center’>>’Trust Center Settings’
3. Check the ‘Trust Access to the VBA project object model’ in the ‘Macro Settings’
MS Excel 2003:
The macro settings in excel would need to be changed as per the snapshots below:
1) Goto ‘Tools>Options”
2) Select ‘Security’ tab
3) Select ‘Low’ in the ‘Security Level’ tab
4) Ensure the two boxes highlighted are checked in the ‘Trusted Publishers’ tab:
