    In order to ensure breakthrough success with Lean Six Sigmaand Six Sigma, there must be support from the executive level.Executive buy-in and support is critical for rapidlyimplementing and ensuring that the Lean Six Sigmamethodology creates lasting change and propagatesthroughout the organization.

    Black Belts are the Lean Six Sigma gurus for large projects.However, companies need people well trained in Lean SixSigma throughout the organization. ey need front-linepersonnel who are positioned to have a direct impact on howbusiness is accomplished. ey also need someone within theproject group to support the Black Belt project leaders and tolead smaller projects.

    GOALS

    e goal of this workshop is to train you as a Lean Six SigmaGreen Belt, an individual to act as a team member and partnerin Black Belt projects. Green Belts also work on projects orlead in businesses that dont require the advanced statistical

    tools of the Black Belts. Green Belts will learn toutilize the Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to address

    work-related projects and demonstrate competency in LeanSix Sigma methods of process improvement. Over the courseof the workshop you will have the opportunity to work withand complete a work related project that meets or exceeds theidentified goals and measures for improvement.

    e responsibilities of a Green Belt include:

    processes.

    To facilitate project effectiveness, you will be taught how toidentify significant performance gaps and how to use thosegaps to generate potential projects.     During the workshop you will learn the philosophy and pur-pose of Lean Six Sigma and the techniques to lead Lean SixSigma project teams. You will apply these skills and techniquesto a work related project.

In order to manage and run a Lean Six Sigmagroup, you will learn to define what roles Black Belts andother team members will playduring the project.     Biography

    Dr. Mark GershonPresident and CEO, World Class Training Institute

    Dr. Mark Gershon is the chairman of the Management Science and Operations Management department. Anindustrial engineer by training, he began his career as a quality engineer with the Project Management office atthe Armys Armaments Development Command. He then worked as a project manager for Control DataCorporation, responsible for software development applications and consulting projects for the minerals indus-try, before coming to Temple in 1983.

    Since then, Dr. Gershon has focused on developing and implementing new ideas for project management andquality management. Besides earning a Professional Engineers license, he holds certification as a Project Man-

    agement Professional and a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. He consults and gives seminars on these topics aroundthe world. Dr. Gershon has published widely, including two textbooks and over thirty refereed journal articles.In 2002, he was keynote speaker at a conference in China, and has served on the editorial boards of internationajournals. An excellent teacher, he has been honored with the Lindback Award for Teaching by Temple.
