Trans Europe Halles is looking for a driven and experienced Communications & Development Director to
help the network to establish itself as a leading network for professional development and exchange in
the international cultural sector. The communications aspect of the role focuses on two exciting new
pan European projects, developing the TEH brand internationally and communication of the network’s
activities. The development aspect involves leading the start-up and strategic development of the TEH

About Trans Europe Halles
Trans Europe Halles is a European based network of cultural centres initiated by citizens and artists that has
been at the forefront of repurposing Europe’s industrial buildings for arts, culture and activism for over 30
years. With more than 70 members and associates across Europe, the network functions today as a dynamic
forum for ideas, experiences and exchange, supporting its members and their communities.

The long-term goal of Trans Europe Halles is to support and strengthen the sustainable development of its
members, as well as culture initiatives originated by citizens and artists and the cultural sector as a whole. For
Trans Europe Halles, the power of culture is in inspirational, transformative experiences that have the capacity
to change people, perceptions and societies. You will be working with a vibrant network of engaged cultural
activists from all over Europe who share the values of the network: cultural equity, citizen participation,
empowerment and sustainability.
In a start-up phase of two pan-European projects and the TEH Academy
Trans Europe Halles is now in an exciting period of development and growth. We are partners in two large
European projects where our role is to coordinate and communicate the work in partnership with 18 other
cultural centres, networks, universities and companies, starting from September 2015. In conjunction with
these two projects, we also aim to establish TEH as a lead organisation in providing professional development,
international exchange and consultancy within the European culture sector by establishing an exciting new
initiative: the TEH Academy.

COMMUNICATIONS & DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORProfile
We are looking for a highly driven and confident professional who is passionate about communication,
culture, international exchange and developing new ideas. You have at least 8 years of work experience in
strategic communication, building partnerships across sectors and leadership in the creative industries,
cultural or educational sectors. We think that you are a strong communicator with an entrepreneurial spirit
who understand the needs and aspirations of people in the creative sector.
Communications: Main Responsibilities• Design and lead the strategic communications strategy for the current two European projects,
including PR, advocacy and media.• Ensure that these projects and the other work of TEH is effectively communicated to stakeholders at
different levels; from the European Commission to national and regional governments as well as
reaching the diverse landscape of cultural practitioners and organisations around Europe and beyond.• Develop and realise a successful communication and media strategy for the promotion of all events,
online tools and peer-to-peer platforms of Trans Europe Halles and its projects
• Engage and involve the membership of Trans Europe Halles in the development of the network and its
activities as well as motivating the project partners in collaboration with the project managers• Develop the TEH brand and its reach so that it better underpins the network’s aim to take a leadership
role in the European cultural sector and beyond.
• Significantly improve the network’s visibility in the European cultural sector and beyond.
TEH Academy Development: Main Responsibilities
• Develop the concept, brand and business model of the TEH Academy including a consultancy service
and build partnerships for its realisation• Build partnerships for its development and realisation across sectors, including arts and culture,
creative industries, academia, social and private sectors.• Work with partners to design and launch the first programmes of the TEH Academy; exchange,
education and professional development.• Support the office team, members and the Executive Committee to develop consultancy services that
create income by sharing the unique knowledge, skills and experience of the Network.• Work with the team to test, refine and grow the services so that they significantly contribute to the
long term financial stability of the network.
Other Responsibilities• Support the Secretary General and Executive Committee in the strategic planning for the network
• Present Trans Europe Halles and its projects at conferences and seminars when requested
Experience, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to develop and implement both external and internal communication strategies for diverse and
international target groups and stakeholders
• Skilled in ”finding the story” and the right media to tell it• Ability to lead on the design and build of websites and online platforms and on-going analysis of their
reach and impact.
• Excellent copy-writing skills especially for an international readership of newsletters, websites and
social media
• Experience from international cooperation in projects and communication• Excellent in English both verbally and in writing• At least 8 years of work experience in strategic communication
• Leadership experience in the creative industries, cultural or educational sectors• Entrepreneurial, with a track record of starting-up or significantly developing organisations or
businesses
• Ability to lead the strategic planning and development of international organisations or businesses• Skilled in business planning, including developing new models and income streams in the not-for-
profit sector• Ability to initiate and build new long term partnerships across sectors such as academia, the creative
industries and private-public partnerships• Track record in significantly building brands over time
Non essential but desirable skills and experiences• Skilled in graphic design• Ability to speak and write well in other European languages
Employment details
Employer: Trans Europe Halles (NGO)
Contract: 2 year contract with a possibility of prolongation. Full-time or 80% depending on negotiations
Location: TEH Coordination Office, situated at the cultural centre Mejeriet, Lund, Sweden
Salary range: 354.000–396.000SEK / 36.170–40.470€ annually depending on experience. Performance related
pay structure negotiable and dependent on the funding and finance of the organisation.

TEH Coordination Office is situated in Lund, Sweden
The Coordination Office is situated in the busy cultural centre of Mejeriet in Lund, offering a wide range of
concerts, film and theatre on a daily basis. The city of Lund with its famous university attracting researchers
from all over the world, has excellent connections: only 12 min by train to Malmö, 33 min to Copenhagen

Creative lensesCreative Lenses is a four-year project with 13 partners of cultural centres, networks, universities and
companies that are dedicated to strengthen and develop the business capacity and sustainability of European
cultural and creative players through research, piloting, benchmarking and training. The main objectives of
the communication are:
• Give major visibility to the project, its aims and outcomes.
• Attract cultural players, as many and as diverse as possible, to participate in the many different events
offered to educate themselves and share their experiences and information.
• Generate media coverage of the development of the project
• Build public awareness about the relevance and role of business models in cultural organisations
• Support the internal communication and exchange of experiences among the partners
europe grand centralEurope Grand Central is a project that connects people’s stories about the human act of crossing borders
through a unique digital and conceptual platform called Bordr. The foundation of the project is the
combination of stories coming from the different grassroots’ projects of the partners in Greece, Sweden,
Germany, Poland, Italy and across the Mediterranean. The main objectives of the communication are:
• Give major visibility to the project, its aims and outcomes.
• Promote the Bordr tool and engage new partners to use it in interaction with their audiences
• Generate media coverage of the development of the project
• Support the internal communication and exchange of experiences among the partners
The AcademyOur ambition is to establish TEH as a lead organisation in providing professional development and
international exchange in the cultural sector. Over three years, TEH will set up a supporting structure for
exchange and learning with the aim of forming a TEH Academy. We will work in partnerships across sectors
to develop and deliver comprehensive training and exchange programmes for creative and cultural
professionals in small and medium sized organisations. To underpin the TEH Academy and network activites,
TEH will develop consultancy services, sharing the network’s skills, knowledge and experiences worldwide.
