“And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a dis-ciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, be-sought Pilate that he might take away the body ofJesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came there-fore, and took the body of Jesus. And there camealso Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesusby night.” (John 19:38-39)

One of the reasons that I write the Pastor’s Page is to encourage born again followersof Jesus to testify to unbelievers of their trust in Christ as Savior. I have received enoughnegative response from these articles to know that many folks that reject Jesus Christread this article regularly. I am sure that there have been at least some discussions be-tween believers and unbelievers prompted by a Pastor’s Page. For this I am grateful. Iam especially grateful if it gives more timid believers more boldness about their relation-ship with Jesus.

Those who name the name of Christ need to “come out of the closet”. The two individ-uals in the passage above had hidden their faith in Jesus Christ because of fear. BothJoseph and Nicodemus were undercover disciples who were afraid of openly associatingwith Jesus. Yet they both boldly (Mark 15:43) and openly “came out” in broad daylightwhen they realized that Jesus was worth whatever scorn they might receive. It is nevertoo late! He is always worth it!
