HISTORY OF WEB MESSENGER

• Chat started with the PLATO system. The PLATO system was invented for computer education at University of lllinois in 1960 by Donald Bitzer and the PLATO’s team development.

• The first PLATO was the small system that can use to teach only in 1 room but then in 1972 the system was developed again to support thousand to use simultaneously.

• Although PLATO was designed for computer-based education, many consider it mignt can be the online community by its communication features. PLATO Notes, create by David Woolley in 1973, was among the world’s first online message boards.

• Then the other chat programs are developed and follow such as UNIX/LINUX Talk.
