2. How many years did they study for?

3. What art based qualifications do they have?

4. What do they think makes a good portfolio?

5. What advice did they give you about how to make a successful career?

1.In the beginning he studied at Brooklyn’s Boys’ High School of drafting and other basic art techniques, after graduation he attended fine art courses at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League, then at the Ferrer School he began to develop his artistic skills.

2. He studied from 1904 to1912, which is 8 years in art education.

3.He was offered a scholarship to study architecture at Brooklyn’s Boys’ High School then work as a commercial artist until he entered the Ferrer School to make his artistic development and involved himself with Dada in the following years.

4.We did not know how he made his portfolio. But through his experience in art education and how his focus changed, the idea might be presenting a range of artworks in different styles which showing your best ability therefore they could see how your ideas and inspirations changed by time.

5.He did not find what is best for him in the first place, but during years studying fine art it gave him solid technical skills. His personal style really started to develop after he befriending and worked with Marcel Duchamp which is a pioneer of Dada. Soon he realised New York is not a good place for the continues of Dada so he moved to Paris in a place surrounded by all other artists, soon he found a special technique to processing film in a dark room accident and this later became his significant personal style. Therefore we can infer that to make a successful career a good education is necessary, then it is important to met people that have the avant-garde spirit that you can encourage each other to keep exploring you ideas. And the social environment is also important; it is good to live surrounding by other artists consider it will help you be aware of their ideas. If your living environment is not that satisfying and could not help you to develop further it is always not too late to move.
