Project Overview:

Using Google Slides, you will create a virtual gallery “wall” that showcases the artwork you created this trimester!

Project Requirements:1.) You must create a wall or wall-and-floor background for your slide.

2.) You must decorate your wall with minimum of three pieces of artwork you created this trimester. Choices include:

-Kumihimo/Circular personal interests drawing-Graffiti Name Design-Brick Wall Break-Out-COVID-19 Meme-Negative Space Drawing-Coffee/Tea Painting-OP Art Spheres and Vortex

3.) Each piece of artwork must be “framed”.

4.) You must include signage, such as an easel on the floor, that includes your name and the words virtual gallery or online gallery

5.) You must include at least one personal element in your gallery, such as:-A picture of you-a picture of your pets-furniture-flowers, plants-what else can you think of ??

1.) Start a new Slide:

1.) Open the Slides home screen at slides.google.com.2.) In the top left, under "Start a new presentation," click “New” . This will create and open your new presentation.3.) Remove text boxes by toggling over the edge until the cross-hairs appear. Click “delete”.

2.) Create your Background:

1.) Click “Background” button in tool bar select “Choose Image” from the pop-up select “Google Image Search” then type “wall and floor background”

2.) Browse the options by scrolling, then click “Insert” when you have selected your choice.

NOTE: Be sure to choose a background with a LOW floor line so you have lots of wall space!

3.) Position your art: (Do this before adding frames)

1.) Click “Insert” select “Image” select “Upload from Computer” (assuming your pictures are on your device!) to add your art to the wall.2.) you can size and position your pictures by making sure the “select” tool (arrow) is utilized.

Click-and-drag to move images. Drag corner box of each highlighted image to make the picture proportionately larger or smaller.

4.) Add your frames: (Doing this after positioning your art ensures the frames will be OVER the art!)

1.) Click “Insert” select “Image” select “Search the Web” In the pop up area on the right, search “frame transparent background”. Make a choice and click “Insert”.

2.) You can size and position your frames by making sure the “select” tool (arrow) is utilized. Click-and-drag to move frames over each picture. Drag corner box of each frame to make the frame larger or smaller. Drag the center box on the sides of the frame to make them fit

5.) Add your signage:

1.) Click “Insert” select “Image” select “Search the Web” In the pop up area on the right, search “easel transparent background”. Make a choice and click “Insert”.

2.) Position your easel on the floor.3.) Use the “Text” tool to create a welcome message. You must include your name and the term “virtual gallery” or “Online

Gallery”, etc.

If you have another method for creating a signage that’s NOT an easel, feel free to be creative!

6.) Add your personal elements!

You can search for elements like furniture, using the same steps for finding the frames and the easel, OR you can upload your own pictures. You must at least ONE personal element, such as a picture of you, or avatar, a pet, flowers, furniture, a window, etc.

Helpful tips:

To move an object to the front or the back, click on it select “Arrange” then select from the options provided.(This can help when layering your pictures and frames together, especially if you added the frames FIRST.)

Make sure you have cropped your art so that it fits nicely into the frame. In other words: NO FINGERS and NO BACKGROUNDS!.

The cropping tool can help you crop your pictures within the Google Slides platform. The cropping tool ONLY APPEARS when an item in the slide is highlighted/clicked on:

NO: Art does not fit in frame! YES: Frame and Art are cropped and arranged to fit!

SAVING YOUR VIRTUAL GALLERY SLIDE TO YOUR DEVICE:

Click “File” select “Download” select “JPEG image ( .jpg, current slide )”

UPLOADING YOUR VIRTUAL GALLERY SLIDE:

Ms. Amsler’s Bb page Content 7-Red Online Bulletin Board select your class thread Select “reply” to my original post use the “Insert/edit image” button and follow prompts to upload your slide.

BE SURE your Virtual Gallery Slide is uploaded by the start of your class period during the week of June 8-12.

We will be presenting and discussing our work in class!
