Things to consider:· Godparents are really special, not just on the day of baptism, but for a
child’s whole life. Being a Godparent will involve special times, treats and much more as Godparents make promises to encourage their godchild to grow in faith and to help them understand how to live their life in a Christian way.
· Ideally Godparents should be baptised and preferably confirmed, but this can be discussed with the clergy when you meet.
· Traditionally people had three Godparents, two of the same sex as the child and one of the opposite sex, but to have one Godfather and one Godmother is sufficient.
· Parents may be Godparents to their own children, provided there is at least one other Godparent.
