A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This story takes place in Athens – where everything is going wrong.

The play starts in the court room of Duke Theseus. Egeus wants his daughter, Hermia to marry Demetrius but she wants to marry Lysander. Theseus gives her 3 choices: she can marry Demetrius, become or nun or she will have to die.

Hermia decides to run away with Lysander and get married.

They meet Helena (Hermia’s best friend). Helena loves Demetrius. They tell her about the plan to run away. She decides to tell Demetrius so he will love her.

The fairies that live in the woods are also having problems. Oberon, the king of fairies, is angry at his queen, Titania. They are fighting over a young boy. Oberon decides to punish her by making her love a monster.

Oberon sends Puck to get a magic flower that can make people fall in love. He uses it on Titania.

Lysander and Hermia fall asleep in the woods. Demetrius chases them. Helena follows, begging him to love her back. Demetrius is mean to Helena. Oberon feels sorry for Helena. He decides to help her and make Demetrius love her.

Also some workers are practicing a play for Theseus’ wedding. Bottom is very bossy and wants to play all the parts. Puck watches them and gives Bottom a donkey’s head. The others get scared and run away leaving Bottom alone. He wakes Titania and she falls in love with him.

Puck finds Lysander and Hermia in the woods. Puck uses the love juice on Lysander because he thinks he thinks it is Demetrius. Helena sees Lysander and wakes him up because she thinks he is hurt. He falls in love with her. Oberon finds out Puck made a mistake and puts love juice on Demetrius’ eyes. He falls in love with Helena too. Hermia is very mad. She thinks her friend has stolen her boyfriend. Helena is upset and thinks the men are teasing her. Hermia tries to fight Helena. Lysander and Demetrius start fighting over Helena.

Oberon makes Puck fix the mess.
