First Grade NewsMay 4th, 2020

Everyone is doing a great job of finishing work and submitting it to me on time. If you have any problems finishing something, please let me know and I will give you some extra time to finish.

Below you will find this week’s work. I did put in a specific assignment for math and Reading from Freckle.com. If you choose this one, you will simply go under the my teacher box and find the assignment for Adding within 100 and Summarizing/Main Ideas.

Please make sure your child is taking the quiz after reading his/her book on Raz Kids.  The quiz is the question mark box under the book. This quiz is counting as your child’s reading test so it is important that he/she take it.  

The Sisters have sent me pen pal letters for the kids. I am going to hold onto them until you pick up final things after school is out. We will write them a final letter at the beginning of next year. Unfortunately, I do not have each Sister’s last name so I cannot mail them. I have always hand delivered the letters. I wish I had a better solution, but it is the only way I can think of right now.

Choose any 4 activities to complete this week.  Using only squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles create a picture for me. You must color it. Take a picture of your drawing and send it to me with your other work.

Writing Week of May 4th-May 8th

Write at least 5 sentences telling me about your favorite place to hang out at home during quarantine. What does the place look like? What do you like to do there? Why is it your favorite place? Make sure you have correct punctuation and capitalization. You may help your child spell and help them check over their sentences, but please let them come up with the ideas on their own.

Social StudiesWeek of May 4th-May 8th

We have some very important symbols of our country. These symbols have an important meaning. This week I want you to find out information about the Statue of Liberty. Write down 4 facts about the Statue of Liberty and send them to me.

Have your child complete the social studies activity.  You will need to take a picture of the completed assignment or scan them and then email them to me.
