Today we will learn about plant earth. Refer to the image below:

Explain to your child:

- We live on planet earth.

- Plant earth is made of land and water.

- It’s important that we care for our planet and keep it clean.

Create a plant earth craft: (practice fine motor skills by ripping the blue and green paper)

OR

MATH- Please review numbers 1-18 (identifying the numbers and counting objects). Number of the week: 19. Have your child count household items such as: beans, seeds, cereal, and toys.

Request a number of items and have your child count and correspond with the items.

Today we will be learning about Recycling and what it means to recycle.

Start by reviewing with your child:

- What is earth day?- How can we help

keep planet earth clean?

Then discuss what it means to recycle.

To recycle means to throw away things that we cannot use again or use them to create something new and useful.

Explain that there are different items to recycle such as paper, plastic, metal (cans) and glass (use image below for reference)

Create 4 recycling bins: (you can use baskets, containers, boxes…)

Have fun coloring and decorating the bins and labels.

Today we will be discussing reusing and reducing.

Start by reviewing what it means to recycle.

Starts by defining the word reduce: reducing means that we can use less of something. For example we can limit the amount of water/light we use by turning it off when we are not using it.

Then explain that some items that we recycle can be reused and made into other useful things.

Using recyclable materials found at home, help your child get creative to reuse and make something else out of it.

Use examples below or feel free to come up with individual ideas… DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!
