Why CPDs on Global Learning?Montgomery DEC is one of six Development Education Centres in Scotland. We receive funding from the UK and Scottish Governments, with involvement from Education Scotland, to promote and actively engage teachers in Global Learning. In our CPD sessions this term we will look at learning around contemporary global issues. The aim is to assist teachers in equipping pupils with the tools needed to promote global citizenship. We also encourage you to share your own ideas, experience, resources and activities with your teacher colleagues at our sessions. Global Citizenship Each session is tailor-made to support teachers in embedding global citizenship within the Curriculum for Excellence by exploring ways in which pupils can develop their understanding of the world, their place in it and how they can make it more just and sustainable. Resources Every CPD involves a presentation of resources and material linked to the theme of that week’s session. Teachers who attend will be given samples of material and activities after each session, and the opportunity to borrow resources from our Global Learning library. The Global Goals for Sustainable DevelopmentWe are using the Sustainable Development Goals, launched on 25 September 2015, as a springboard for our CPD sessions. Through these we explore Global Learning and Citizenship. Visit: www.globalgoals.org. Thursdays4.30 pm to 6 pmMontgomery DEC 79 Queen StreetAberdeen AB10 1AN
