Principal products include electrical conduit fittings, panel boxes, and lighting fixtures. The SIC Code is 3644, Non Current carrying wiring devices. Hubbell purchased the plant in 1984 from a private owner (J. Desloge). Killark manufactures enclosures and fittings for use in installations such as chemical plants, pipelines, grain elevators, coal handling facilities and refineries. The plant is leased, supplied by city water and is heated via natural gas space heaters. The site is 158,000 square feet of floor area, covering Office, Production, Warehouse, Laboratory and 900square foot offsite testing facility. There are 200 employees working two shifts starting at 6AM, 2:30PM and 12:30 AM. Principal raw materials are semi-finished aluminum and iron castings (95% of the castings are aluminum) purchased from various vendors, either die cast or sand molded, cutting fluid for machining, along with powder coat and wet paint. The plant has the following major process areas: Machining (drilling, threading, tapping, milling, turning, shearing, forming/punch pressing, tumbling, machine shop); Finishing (3-stage washer, drying oven, powder coat spray booths (3), cure oven, burn-off oven, and a 1-stage alkaline soap washer with 1- wet lacquer paint spray booth). Ninety percent of the metal parts processed are powder coat painted and ten percent are wet spray painted, the latter tending to be larger parts.

The Impairment Coordinator’s role shall be to monitor all impairments of the building’s fire and life-safety systems. He or she will be the initial contact when impairment is necessary or occurs, and a “tag out” system shall be implemented to label all closed valves or impaired devices as needed. He or she will be the sole contact for all repair work to the impaired systems, and ensure those systems are placed back in service.

Upon Discovery of Fire or Fire Alarm Activation:

If fire or smoke is discovered:

1. Immediately proceed to the closest fire alarm pull station and sound the fire alarm system, and dial 911 to notify the Fire Department.

2. Initiate building evacuation procedures immediately, utilizing the closest available exit.3. If possible and if the fire is small, grab the closest fire extinguisher and attempt to

extinguish the fire, only if it is safe to do so. If first attempt fails, STOP, do not continue to fight the fire.

4. Close all doors to the fire area if this can be done so in a safe manner and immediately evacuate.

5. Staff shall provide the public with whatever assistance is needed to ensure an orderly evacuation, if needed.

6. Elevators SHALL NOT be utilized during a fire emergency, only use stairways 7. Once evacuation has started, the fire alarm system SHALL NOT be silenced or reset, nor

shall the building be re-entered without approval by the St. Louis Fire Department.8. All staff shall assemble at the designated assembly point and personnel accounted for.9. Upon arrival of Fire Department, notify them of any persons not accounted for.

Evacuation Routes:

Evacuation Assembly Point: (see .ppt above)

1. There are three assembly points for this facility. The first assembly point will be for Motor Control & Tech Building/Lab employees (Cardinals) The location of this assembly point will be the Left-front portion of the parking lot with the Cardinals banner.

2. The second assembly point will be for all First Floor Office, 2nd floor Office and 3rd Floor at this will be at the center-front portion of the parking lot with the Missouri Tigers banner.

3. The third assembly point will be for all First Floor lighting staff this will be at the right front portion of the parking lot with the St. Louis Blues banner.

4. The designated Building Directors will be responsible for ensuring that all employees are at the designated assembly points and are accounted for.

Evacuation Drills and Training:

Fire drills shall be held annually as required by the OSHA [29 CFR 1910.165(b)(4)] & [29 CFR 1910.165(b)(5)]. ALL employees shall participate in all drills, and the drills shall be implemented by sounding the building’s fire alarm system. Prior to any drill, our fire alarm central monitoring station will be notified so that the Fire Department will not be dispatched. Important: Upon completion of our drill, we will notify our central monitoring station of the completion of the drill.

The Site Coordinator shall keep a record of all drills and training of employees in the Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan.
