Math 1010 Project

Jenni:

I felt that my views changed a lot after this project. Although it makes sense, I never knew that math could be used for so many things. I didn’t know that so much math could go into something that seems so simple, like the aircraft that was shown in the project. After this project I also realized all the other things that math was used for, for example, shopping (finding out what things cost after discount), some jobs require it (even simple jobs, like being a waitress or a cashier) and more.

Brooke:

I feel that this project has changed my view of math being used in the real world. If you really think about everything that you have, math was used to make it. 

Carrie:

I've already been aware that math can be applied in the real world.  There are enough word problems to assure all of us of that.  However not everybody will be using the complex algebra in their daily lives.  A writer like myself will likely never need to find the solution to a radical equation.  Since when is the price of something the square root of two?  The house I live in, the car I drive, all have been designed using math.  And I'm grateful for it and I'm also grateful I'm not the one that has to manage it in everyday life.

Jorie:

I think math is very relevant out in the real world. This project was a good way to show how math can be applied outside of the classroom. I think we all use math every whether we realize it or not, maybe not in such a complex way but we definitely use it. The amount of math or the kind of math a person will use It all just depends on the career they choose.
