Various companies involved in paper manufacturing, petro-chemicals and other industries that would profit from Hemp being banned or heavily taxed, lobbied for the banning and high taxation of Hemp in America and succeeded in the 1930’s. Hemp production pretty much came to a stand still due to its family members being undesirable (THC is present in Hemp, but you would have to eat more than you can consume for it to have a drug effect on the mind/body)Thank fully hemp is making a come back in some parts of the world it is still banned or for example in America you can sell hemp products but not the whole seeds, in the UK you need a license to grow large amounts of hemp; otherwise the production and use of hemp in the UK is un-restricted.
