This highlights the lifestyle of real people living like this in the area that the book is set, Bel Air in California. Some examples are listed below.

There is a real life con-nection with Rupert Murdoch and his son Lachlan Murdoch who are part of a famous business family who run a wealthy world wide media company.

1. At the start of the book, Lexington crashes her new car into a shop. This is like Lindsay Lohan a real life young movie star who has been known to have had many car crashes of expen-sive vehicles while driving DUI (Driv-ing Under Influence of alcohol).

5. One of Lexi’s friend’s mother used to be in a girl band over in the U.K. but has now moved to the U.S.A. with her family. This is the same story as Victoria Beck-ham who used to be a member of a famous U.K. band from the 90s called The Spice Girls.

3. In the book Lexi has a Papillon dog called Holly. Lexi likes to carry her around in a Birkin bag. A real life con-nection to this is Paris Hilton, the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels. She is a known wealthy social girl who always carried around a pet dog in her Birkin bag just like the character, Lexington, does in the book.

6. One of the chapters of the book is called ‘Bruce Almighty.’ This name is taken from the movie starring Jim Carrey where he thinks he is God. The book is playing on the movie title and showing that the character Bruce is acting like he thinks he is God.
