Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest ™!
Transatlantyk Festival in Łódź, Poland announces Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest ™ 2018 (TICC). This is a truly special event; the only competition in the world of instant composition or improvisation synchronized with the image!
Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest™ is a spectacular and globally unique competition of simultaneous composition and piano improvisation synchronized with the motion picture. Young artists who have a talent for improvisation and expressing emotions through music will find an extraordinary challenge here. They will watch a short movie material and then, a minute later on stage, in front of the audience they will create a composition to accompany the movie. The skill requires extraordinary musical and emotional sensitivity as well as an exceptional technical proficiency.
At Transatlantyk Festival there are two remarkable international composition contests initiated by the the founder and director of the Festival, Oscar winning composer Jan A.P. Kaczmarek: Transatlantyk Film Music Competition ™ (TFMC) and Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest ™ (TICC).
Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest is held in two stages. The first are open auditions which all enrolled participants can join; then the jury selects 10 young most creative
musicians for the finals which are the second stage of the competition audition. Last year the winner of the TICC competition was Jakub Czerski (Poland). In the TFMC competition the first prize went to Ruslan Perezhilo (Latvia).
The jury of the competition in previous years included such renowned and outstanding members as John Debney, Richard Gladstein, Marco Beltrami, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Jean-Michel Bernard and Jan A.P. Kaczmarek.
Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest ™ (TICC) is one of the flagship projects at the festival, it is an exclusive event based on the idea of spontaneous musical response to the motion picture. It also requires technical mastery in playing the piano. For Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, the initiator of the competition, TICC’s role is to build a composer's workshop and specifically develop the skill of instinctive interaction with the pictures.

The jury will also select:
Transatlantyk Instant Composer - Second Prize - 7 500 PLN
Transatlantyk Instant Composer - Third Prize - 5 000 PLN
Deadline for submitting entries - July 13, 2018
- 1st stage of auditions and the final auditions - July 18, 2018
- announcement of the winners during the Closing Gala on July 20, 2018

Admission to the auditions and the finals of the Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest ™ is free; priority will be given to the festival accreditation holders.
