Jessica Minton Instructions: 1. Form small groups of students that will work together 2. Research background information on solar panels to gain an understanding on how they are employed 3. Develop a proposal on installing solar panels for your school district 4. Be sure to include solar panel placement, diagrams, maps, cost analysis, cost-benefit, justification, and other information that you feel is important. 5. Present your proposal to a mock “board of directors” who will give you feedback and recommendations on your project proposal Materials: 1. Calculator 2. Computer 3. Maps 4. Paper 5. Project Folders 6. Solar Panels Purpose: This will demonstrate to students the bureaucracy that make it difficult to adopt renewable energies such as solar panel at a company. Students will learn that perseverance is needed in order to make a change for the better in the real world. All of the research they do leading up to this will explain the benefits for using solar technology.
