This month we feature pieces from our Sports Code Coordinators from Distance Running and Archery
Distance Running
Hi there everyone
I am the coordinator for Police Sport distance runners – this is anything from half marathon, to marathon and beyond, road or trail. Snail pace to Olympic champion. Everybody is welcome.
Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in staying informed of any events and group runs. Forward onto anyone you know in Police outside of Police Sport who may be keen on joining.
Please include your location, and state what your preferred distance and terrain (road vs trail) would be for competition such as SI or NI Champs . This will help determine where we hold events and what type of races we utilise for our competitions.
I have created a facebook page (though I am yet to develop it further) for group members: https://www.facebook.com/groups/233796374674194/
Any further questions call me on 021 1926674 or pop up to see me at Waitangirua, Porirua.
Calling all archers!
My name is Shane Reid and I’m an archer, something that I have been for over 20 years.
I have been active with archery in New Zealand at multiple national events etc and have a fairly good understanding of the national bodies and procedures.
I’m seeking other aspiring archers to respond to me directly at [email protected]
I would like to get a group of us together with the ultimate goal of representing New Zealand at world events relevant to the Police/fire/military
As an example http://wpfg.cpaf.org/
I have plenty of enthusiasm and experience to offer other archers who might be interested in becoming competitive and possibly attended similar world events.
As winter approaches, we remind our members of the partnership we have with:
Smartwool NZ
Smartwool have again offered us a discount off of their products from their “online store” only. https://www.smartwool.co.nz/.
Please remember this is for Police Sport members only.
(Retired PS Members and Life Members also welcome)
To register for this Smartwool discount please email [email protected] with “Smartwool Discount Code” in the subject line and the code will be sent to you.
MISSING TROPHIES
Somewhere, somehow, someone may know where there are some trophies that are from Police Sport.
We are missing one of the top trophies the “Referee / Umpire of the year”
I have heard from a number of sports that are looking for trophies so if you can check any trophy cabinet in your station or if you have knowledge of some of the trophies we would be very grateful to receive them back.
Pass them to your local DSO or wrap them up and send them to “Police Sport’ at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Papakowhai Road, Porirua or send them in the internal DX mail system.
If you do locate some and are not to sure of how to get them back please call Kerry on 027511 5111 and we can discuss their return.

World Police & Fire Games Rotterdam 2021 postponedThe coronavirus has the whole world in its grip, and that includes the World Police & Fire Games. Because of the unpredictability created by the pandemic, the federation of the World Police & Fire Games, in consultation with the organization of the WPFG Rotterdam, has decided not to organize the Games in 2021 and to investigate further how we can make the event possible in 2022.
The Games were scheduled to take place from 30 July to 8 August 2021 in Rotterdam. Registration for participants was due to open directly after the summer. In view of the uncertainty surrounding development of a vaccine, the health risks and the measures to be followed, we do not consider it responsible to encourage Police, Fire, Customs and Corrections personnel worldwide to take part together next year in this large-scale mixed-sport event.
Another aspect is that, due to the coronavirus, there are currently too many uncertainties to allow effective preparation for the World Police & Fire Games in 2021. By taking this decision now, we are first and foremost giving timely clarity to the participants, but also to all the parties involved in the organization of the World Police & Fire Games 2021. As a result, we expect to limit the impact of the decision to move the event.
The organization of the WPFG Rotterdam will continue to work tirelessly to identify all the consequences, so that we can enjoy an unforgettable edition in 2022. First of all, a determined effort is being made, together with all the parties involved, to establish a new date.
We expect to be able to tell you more about this within a few weeks. We will keep you informed of developments. Stay up to date via our newsletter and social media.
Stay safe out there and look after each other.
