Oil spills are important for everyone to know about because oil spills harm innocent people and animals, everyone should know the dangers of oil because oil spills can be anywhere. We did our project on the effects of oil spills on marine life and our experiment was to see which oil works best to and take off brown paint from a feather. We did our experiment because we wanted to see how hard it is to remove oil from feathers. The items we used for our experiment was baby oil, alsi oil, coconut oil, feathers and brown paint.

In our experiment we wanted to see which oil works best by taking brown paint off a feather. We think that coconut oil works best because it is the richest source of statured fat known to mankind. That’s why we think coconut oil works best. The other oils that we used were baby oil and alsi oil.

The ExperimentFor our experiment, we used brown paint, different oil and feathers.

We wanted to see which oil is best to clean the brown paint off the feathers.The first oil was coconut oil:1.)We put brown paint on the feathers 2.)We put coconut oil on the feathers3.)We mixed the coconut oil on the featherFirst try to take it off: the feather got thinner and most of the paint came off but not all of it. Second try to take it off: it was thin and little pieces started coming off the feather but all the brown paint came off.The second oil was baby oil:1.)We put brown paint on the feathers2.)We put baby oil on the feathers3.)And we mix!The first try to take it off: it came off but instead of on the feather, it was in the feather.Third oil is Alsi oil:We did the same steps as baby oil and coconut oil.First try: It came of the top but it was on the edges and bottom.Second try: It came off the bottom but not the edges.Third try: It came all off.Results: Baby oil worked best to take the paint offSecond, would be coconut oil and third is Alsi oil.

DiscussionWe did many things in our project. The first thing we did was find out

how do oil spills effect marine life. We got the information from books. After that, we wrote down the information we knew and we had spare time to write down extra information about how do oil spills effect the environment.

After we made a hypothesis of what we think is going to happen to the experiment. After doing the experiment hypothesis, we did the real experiment and the abstract. While doing all the information, we were doing the research paper. We then did the independent and dependent variables. After every paragraph we wrote, we wrote where we got this information and at the end we wrote all of it in a box. We made some bar graphs to show results of our experiment. We wrote why we chose this topic. Then we wrote how oil spill applies to the real world. We made a procedure to show what we did in the experiment step by step. After, we wrote our number statistics to have proof of our information. Also, while doing the end of our information, we started putting pictures and good copy information on our poster board. The poster board had black and white border with gold letters. After we were done everything, we rehearsed who is saying what. We hope that this science fair goes well for us!
