In the beginning of the course, the definition of political communication and the its differences with other communication forms will be explored in order to achieve good understanding of political communication. Concepts, process, models and dimension of political communication become an important issues in knowing this course which will be discussed in this course sessions. Media engagement in political communication become trending topic in this subject, in particularly how New Media contribute their important role in some election events worldwide. Moreover, the existence of media (conventional) still play significantly in many political issues. In accordance with recent political issues in Indonesia and some countries, this course provides discussion and presentation sessions for students to present their analysis and data. Course Objectives: After completing this course: 1. Students will be able to complete the identification of political communication. 2. Students will be able to understand the role and function of communication studies in the institutional political process. Assessment: 1. In-class quiz = 10% 2. In-class participation = 10% 3. Midterm test = 25% 4. Research Presentation = 20%

1. Research Paper and PresentationTime : Week 13, 14, 15Percentage : 20%Description : Every student will conduct mini research and present it in the front of their class mates. There are 3 topics/groups of students; Legislative and president election in Indonesia, the technic of modern election, culture and democratic process, and Quick count and polling strategy.
