ANNUAL REPORT 2014-2015INAUGURATIONThe activities of Women Cell for the academic year 2014-15 was inaugurated by Dr. Neena Joseph, Assistant Professor , IMG College, Kakkanad .She gave an enlightening talk on “Harassments against Women”. She stressed that when it came to preventing violence, we must address the root causes of gender inequality and discrimination. She believed that it was time to endeavour to promote a culture of equality between men and women through institutional and legal reform, education, awareness-raising and the full engagement of men and boys

PRE MARITIAL COUNSELLING CLASS

A One day seminar on pre- marital issues was organized for Post graduate students by the Women Cell. The session enlightened them about the growing statistics of divorce and the petty issues that could lead to disintegration of a marriage. An Open discussion after the session was also organized which helped the students to voice their queries and debate about the growing intolerance in marriage and how to tackle it.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON VIVEKANADA ON WOMEN’S EQUALITY –CONTRIBUTIONS OF A MAJOR THINKER

The women cell in association with department of Botany organised a one day UGC sponsored National Seminar on the topic VIVEKANADA ON WOMEN’S EQUALITY –CONTRIBUTIONS OF A MAJOR THINKER on 29th October 2014 as part of 50th birth Anniverssary of

Swami Vivekanada. Among the modern Indian reformers and leaders, who stood for complete equality of men and women, the most outstanding was Swami Vivekananda. He was highly sympathetic towards the oppressed position of Indian women and argued for gender equality. The talk helped us to reiterate Swami Vivekananda’s philosophies and contributions towards the women society which shall always be remembered for generations to come.

Be Empowered- A slogan for each Women

As a part Xaverian Day Celebration women cell members presented a Program “Be Empowered- A slogan for each Women” by Women Cell members which pointed out the problems faced by current women and how it can be overcome.

“SHILPAKAAR 2015”An interdepartmental craft competition “Shilpakaar” was conducted

by women cell on November 3rd

YOGA CLASS

The women cell of our College conducts regular yoga Classes for Students and teachers.

KARATE CLASS

The Women Cell of our College conducts Karate Classes for Students.
