Prison break season 1 episode 3.This task I will be analysing our specific programme series which will be prison break.Prison break started in august 2009 and Ending in May 15 2009. The programme is about two brothers Michael and Lincoln. Lincoln is accused of a crime he didn’t commit and is due for a death row. Michael then purposely commits a crime in order for him to bust out his brother out of prison. This is a ongoing series, I know this because the film consists of four seasons. And goes over a period of four years, building up to a climax finale. The genre of prison break is action thriller. We can tell because of the consistent suspense that builds up in the episodes, keeping the audience on edge. Having said that the lighting use in this drama is very low key creating a moody atmosphere, as the first scene is not a very happy
scene. The soundtracks used is a lot of diegetic, this is natural sounds for example the sounds of chains of the prison door slides to close, this creates a real effect for the audience. Also non-diegetic sounds used, this is sound effects and the use of music. There is a use of music used a lot when there is tension building, or a thriller moment. This creates adrenaline for the audience keeping them on edge.Alongside with that the rating of the film is 15, as it contains a lot of violence that younger viewers may not be able to watch.
It’s also action because the Mise- en -scene, makes it recognizable, as the setting is placed in a prison
Kidnapping, shooting is all part of the thriller.
, the props used are guns and knives.Narrative- the programme is non-linear and linear because it’s is in chronological order And it also has a different narrative in each scene referring back to flash backs as well. Leaving each narrative with a cliff-hanger to enable the audience to be intrigued to continue watching.Technical-
Establishing shot - allowing the audience to see where the action will take place. This also sets the scene and location of where the story will be held.
Shot reverse shot- Referring form one character to another. This builds tension throughout the conversation
Match on match action-
Eye line match- This is similar to a POV shot. Allowing the audience to see what the character sees.
Cross cutting – Where two scenes happen to the same time, creating more thriller effectThese shot I have listed above, all contribute to creating and building up the tension in the film.
