How to Create a Two-Column Newsletter

As an elementary teacher, writing newsletters to students and parents is an effective and efficient way to communicate information. It is important to know and understand how to create a two column newsletter so that others are able to view your writing in an organized fashion.

These are the parts of the newsletter:

* Upcoming events

* Reminders

* Behavioral Standards

* Description of assignments

* Suggestions for parents to extend learning

Here are some steps to take in order to create atwo column newsletter:

- Open up a Microsoft Word document. - Click on the formatting page, and scroll down/click to view the Columns.- There will be a variety of available options, however select two columns. - There is also an option to include a line in between the columns. If this is desired, select the box.- From here, you are able to begin typing onto the word document. The writing will be sectioned into two columns.

Here are some tips for things that should be included in a two column newsletter:

- Be sure to consider the audience that will be reading your newsletter. - Provide useful and current information in the letter. - Break up the writing into an easy to read format so that the audience is able to engage in reading. - Use powerful word choice that is interesting. - Keep it visually appealing. - Provide a topic that is short and to the point.
