UNICEF Italian Committee Together in the RUN FOR AUTISM This year, the Italian Committee for UNICEF has been involved, thanks to its commitment for chidren’s rights, with a special attention to chidren with disabilities, in a special national event titled RUN FOR AUTISM that has been launched on November 26 th at the Chamber of Deputies (Parliament), at the presence of Authorities , media and associations by the “Project Filippide” organization. The "Project Filippide " is part of the Sport and Society Association; Amateur Sport Society and it is recognized by the Italian Paralympic Committee that conducts training and preparation in competitive sport , with individuals with autism and rare syndromes related to it . The sport is recognized by the medical-scientific world as an effective rehabilitative and therapeutic tool for all disabled people intellectually and relationally . Participation in competitive sports in particular, is crucial in order to gain greater awareness of own’s limitations, at any level, in an attempt to overcome them. The benefits derived from athletic endeavor , along with an overall personal gratification , as determined by the moments of integration and socialization that sport offers , represent the aims of this project. The Project Filippide , also includes research and development of innovative methods aimed at the treatment of autism and it respresents a center of excellence for sports and relational intellectual disabilities.

This year, the Italian Committee for UNICEF has been involved, thanks to its commitment for chidren’s rights, with a special attention to chidren with disabilities, in a special national event titled RUN FOR AUTISM that has been launched on November 26th at the Chamber of Deputies (Parliament), at the presence of Authorities , media and associations by the “Project Filippide” organization.

The Project receives strong support and contribution for the Municipality of Rome - Department of social Policy - Department Office V Handicap .

Every day, dozens of boys and girls with disabilities find their identity as athletes. The project now has dozens of sections throughout Italy who have tested and validated the method of working , effective and functional physical education , behavioral

treatment , integration.In recent years, autism has come out to be like a real social emergency , both for its impact on the birth rate and for its high degree of social intrusion.

On December 1 the highlight of theeEvent : The Run for Autism .First road race at the European level created to make people aware and give visibility to the issue of autism.
