INSTALLING OR UPGRADING RAM ON A INTEL Z170 MOTHERBOARD The Intel z170 series chipset runs on dual channel DDR4 DIMMs and will work best with 2 or 4 sticks of Ram of the same size and CAS latency. Memory can be purchased in sets of 2 and 4 to make it easier on the consumer. INSTALLING OR UPGRADING RAM ON A INTEL Z170 MOTHERBOARD

The Intel z170 series chipset runs on dual channel DDR4 DIMMs and will work best with 2 or 4 sticks of Ram of the same size and CAS latency. Memory can be purchased in sets of 2 and 4 to make it easier on the consumer.

INSTALLING/UPGRADING THE RAM : 1. Shutdown the PC.

2. Turn off and unplug the Power Supply unit in the back of the computer

chassis

3. Unscrew the case screws on the left side of the Chassis with the screwdriver.

4. Remove panel and put to the side5. Put on the ESD protective Bracelet and attach it to the Chassis using the

alligator clip

6. Turn the PC on it’s right side, so the open panel is facing up.

7. Locate the ram on the motherboard next to the CPU

8. Unlock each slot by pressing the lever located next to each slot.

9. Remove the ram sticks that are located in the slots. (if not upgrading skip to next step)

10.Install the first new memory by match the groove position to the slot.

11.Press down on the ram until you hear the click of the locking lever12.Install the next new memory stick by repeating step 10 and 11 on the slot

that matches the color of the slot you installed the first stick on.13.Repeat steps 10, 11, and 12 for any remaining memory.14.Disconnect ESD bracelet 15.Replace side panel
