As mathematicians we will:
Set up a woodland shop using natural items such as leaves, feathers, sticks and pebbles to stock our woodland store. We will create mini
price tags and learn about the value of dominations of coins including counting coins and notes and solve money problems using the shop
items.
As artists and designers we will:
Design and create our own woodland crowns! We will be using a range of natural materials and woodland treasures to make a final
product fit for woodland royalty!
Make a wacky and wonderful tree boggart using clay! We will sculpt the boggart face using sticks, leaves and stones.
As readers we will:
We will continue to develop our phonic knowledge. We will recap our sounds and skills from RWI set 1,2 moving onto
set 3. We will learn different spelling choices for the sounds for example `ay` can also be spelt `ai` `eigh` or `a-e`.
As scientists we will:
Identify, and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants including trees.
We will be planting wild and woodland flowers using seeds and bulbs that are native to woodlands in the UK.
In computing we will be:
Using technology purposefully to learn about the Woodland Trust. We will gather all the information we have learned
and create and send an email to the Woodland Trust telling them what we have learnt.
Year 1 – Enchanted WoodlandSpring Term
As writers we will:
Practice saying a sentence before writing it down. We will learn what a good sentence needs and how to use finger
spaces, full stops and capital letters. We will listen to traditional tales such as Hansel and Gretel, sequence stories
and write our own versions of these.
