First Parish Community Auction November 10 and 17, 2019 Thank you for supporting the First Parish Community Auction. It is a silent auction during social hour that raises funds for First Parish’s budget while building community. A silent auction means that all bidding is done by pen. A bidding sheet for each item is on a table or wall in the parlor during social hour and you write in your bid – then you follow how your item is doing – upping your bid as necessary to win. Bidding ends at 12:45 pm on November 17 th . If you can’t attend church on November 17 th , you can still participate! Just email your bid by 11:00 am on November 17 th to [email protected] and the auction committee will add your bid to the event bid sheet. Please include item you want to bid on and your maximum bid. No guarantees but we will do our best to get your bids entered on the bid sheets. During bidding, please be sure to record your name and bidder number at the bottom of the bidding sheet each time you increase your bid. If you are bidding for two or more places at a dinner or event, please write your name and bid number on two or more separate lines each time. To participate you need a bidding number. If you registered last year, you will have the same number this year. Numbers are posted on the bulletin board in the parlor. If you didn’t participate last year, please find the Auction Team’s table near the piano and register. Having a number means you won’t have to write your phone number and email address over and over again when you bid. Your name and bidder number will be enough. Reminder: When bidding, return to look at how your bid is doing. If others have “out-bid” you, increase your bid amount to win the item. When changing the amount of your bid, cross out your previous bid and write a new bid beneath current bids. The exception to this rule is the Flat-rate events which are first-come- first-serve. There are five flat-rate events being offered—in these cases, the rate does not change and the event closes once all spaces are signed up for by bidders. 1

Thank you for supporting the First Parish Community Auction. Raffle Option: Before purchasing raffle tickets, please note which auction events are included in the raffle. It is up to you how many tickets you place in any raffle jar – you can put all your tickets into one jar or spread among multiples. Be sure to write your name and bid number on the back of the raffle ticket! The raffle option will be available for five specific dinners. Tickets cost $1 or 6 tickets for $5.

In addition to the raffle, for no cost you can sign up for a random drawing for free seats at the flat rate events. Anyone who purchases a raffle ticket and does not win, will be added into this random drawing.

If you are confused, ask an Auction Team member for help. We will be wearing Auction buttons so we will be easy to find.

In addition, we have a gifts to go table – here you pay cash and take the item home with you – gifts are mostly handmade items by members of First Parish.

Special thanks to everyone who donated to make the auction a success!

And thanks to everyone who bids on our wonderful donations!
