Jacob H. is the star student of the week. Jacob is a smart boy and he is working hard in class.

We are proud of Jacob!

I know everyone has been working hard and trying to get their kids to learn the sight

words in their box. Here are some pointers to help you help them:

- Do not encourage kids to sounds out the sight words. Many of them do not have “regular” sounds and cannot be

phonetically sounded out.- Play games with them. Make it fun!

You can lay out 9 cards and play BINGO. You can even make a tic tac toe with sight words the child has to

read the word in the space to put their X or O to get three in a row.

- Look on the computer for more resources. Pinterest is a great resource

for parents as well as the internet. - Download aps on your smart phones or

tablets. Most of them are free or very inexpensive.

- Offer your child incentives for learning their words. I am offering incentives
