Wordly Wise Exam Tips 1. Remember: You CANNOT simply memorize the definitions when completing Wordly Wise fill-in-the- blank exams. The format of the test relies on the correct APPLICATION of the words and knowing how to use them/fit them in a sentence. 2. Study how to use the different tenses of the words. If using flashcards, write a variety of different sentences using each of the different tenses shown for the vocabulary words. (example: COMPREHEND = I can comprehend the story; We comprehended everything that was said in class; my little brother sometimes has comprehension issues.) 3. Review Lesson E in Wordly Wise. Although not mandatory, Lesson E will provide a preview of the same content/theme that will be covered on the Wordly Wise exam. 4. Utilize some of the games/tests provided using the Wordly Wise book links on www.room204.org . For instance, the game “Vocabulary Sentences” seen here: https://www.vocabtest.com/sentences.php? book=wordly_wise_7&lesson=7 offers practice that is very similar to the types of sentences seen on the Wordly Wise exams.

Wordly Wise Exam Tips

1. Remember: You CANNOT simply memorize the definitions when completing Wordly Wise fill-in-the-blank exams. The format of the test relies on the correct APPLICATION of the words and knowing how to use them/fit them in a sentence.

2. Study how to use the different tenses of the words. If using flashcards, write a variety of different sentences using each of the different tenses shown for the vocabulary words. 6. Look carefully at the context clues offered within the sentences. EVERY SENTENCE ON THE WORDLY WISE EXAMS CONTAINS A CONTEXT CLUE!!!

Highlight or circle these clues throughout, which can help you identify vocabulary responses AND the correct tense which should be used.
