PSHE Topic activity

Today you will make a time capsule to remember what it was like during the lockdown. You can research what different time capsules look like to copy or use your imagination to make one with your family.

Think about whatever resources you could choose to create your time capsule out of.

What you would have inside your time capsule? E.g If it is safe to collect a newspaper you can cut out different news articles to remember what has been happening during this time. If you can’t get a newspaper, you could watch Newsround or the news on TV and write about a story you hear.

You could create a timeline - It should be one long continuous line, split into equal parts. You can add dates, arrows, labels and pictures to show when these events happened.

Put all of your work into your time capsule and hide it somewhere safe around your house to find years later.

Younger Children

Draw some pictures of who you are isolating with. Include your pets if you have any

Older Children

Write a letter to yourself about what it's like being in a lockdown at your house

What you have been doing, how did you keep up with school work? How have you kept in contact with friends and family? Ask questions and think about what you would like to do once lockdown has finished.

Challenge

Write an acrostic poem about the coronavirus. You could also write one with the word(s) epidemic, lockdown, stay at home, stay alert or isolation.

Remember to use; -alliteration (words with the same letters and sounds at the beginning e.g. dedicated doctors, nice nurses, stay safe) -rhyme (words with the same sound-sad/bad)-adjectives (describing words)-onomatopoeia (sound word e.g. Clink, Clink!
