move will not only enable Delhi Police to understand the grievances as faced by general public on daily basis but will also help them to under-stand the public perception about the police functioning, crime situation of the area and above all receive suggestions from public to further strengthen the system of community policing.

Participants expressed their grievances which for the purpose of brevity can be summarized as traffic related issues, encroachment issues and issues related to crime prevention for example effective patrolling and verification of tenant, servants and kabariwalas.         On calling for an opinion vote about whether sirens should be used on patrolling vehicles (Motorcycles, ERVs and QRTs) during night time, it was found that 90 percent of the residents supported the idea.  They asserted that this move will instill confidence in minds of the residents and fear in minds of rogue and criminal elements. The suggestion of verification of all Kabariwalas was appreciated by all participants as they are believed to be re-ceivers of stolen property.

Jt. CP South Eastern Range and Addl. CP South East District also addressed the Jan Sampark Sabha and emphasized the need of the meeting with public is to engage the community in our crime prevention activities and to do away with the perception of the public that their complaints are not looked into by the local police. The idea of this Jan Sampark Sabha is also that instead of public reaching to us it will be better that we reach in their areas to resolve problems and complaints.

Jan Smapark Sabha ended with vote of thanks to Jt CP, SER and with the commitment to conduct more such Jan Smapark Sabha in future for the resi-dents of the area.
