FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK This year we are celebrating our feast of St. Anthony on the first Sunday before Thanks- giving. We chose this date because thanks giving is a time of giving thanks and remembering. We will have a Mass on November 19, 2017 at 12 Noon and celebrate downstairs with food and dancing to the tune of Allan La Bella. Tickets will go on sale next Sunday. If you wish to have your relatives remembered at this Mass please fill out the forms found in your pews and return to the rectory. Your relatives’ names will be read at this Mass and the names also will be printed in a special booklet which will be distributed at this Mass. We hope you will join us for this special occasion. BASIC CHRISTIAN COMMUNITYWe have started a new program, namely “Basic Christian Community” (BCC) in our Parish. Basic Christian Community is the life style of early Christians. Few families gather at a home and they pray and reflect over the Word of God. It will enrich our lives and provide a good opportunity to pray for others. It will strengthen our relationship with one another. If anyone wants to have Basic Christian Community in their home, please contact Fr. Heniston.

“Faith is all a matter of building bridges”“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you”. (Phil 4/8-9)

Born in relationship we need to live in relationship. When it comes to relationships we need to build bridges and not walls. Faith invites us to build bridges not walls between us and God and between us and others because “Faith is all a matter of building bridges”. To practice our faith and live in relationship (bridge) with peace and joy we need to do as St. Paul exhorted his Philippians community such as seeking through our lives what is noble, right, pure, lovely, excellent, praiseworthy and admirable.

Confirmation program prepares our kids to live the faith more vigorously building bridges, not walls and stand out for Christ. This weekend the first year Confirmation program candidates have the “bridge course” to strengthen their faith.Oct 8, 2017 (Sunday) from 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM the first year Confirmation candidates have the “Bridge Course” in the faith formation building right after the 12 Noon Mass.All the Confirmation candidates both the Year I and Year II are required to attend the 12 Noon Mass and sign the sign-up sheets kept in the vestibule.

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at Mass and at classes last weekend! If you didn't make class last weekend, join us this weekend. If you'd like to register your child/children, come to the Faith Formation Office on Saturday mornings between 8:30 and 11:30, or stop by on Sunday mornings. Grades 1-2 meet from 8:45 until 9:45 and Grades 3-8 meet from 11:00 until 12:00.

October 15: Regular Schedule of ClassesFor Parents of Children Making First Communion next Spring: There is a mandatory meeting in the Chapel at 9:00 this morning. An overview of the program will be given, tips to prepare your child and family handouts, and the schedule of events will be available. Also at the 10:00 Mass, the children will be presented and enrolled formally in the program. Please attend the Mass and sit with your child today.
