OCTOBER ANNIVERSARIES: 6 Loyd & Ruth Dozier Being married is hard work but7 Steve & Ginny Grimes the results are worth it!11 Dave & Kathy Bycroft21 Gregg & Barbara Bush Two are better than one...

Ecclesiastes 4:9

The greatest challenge in marriage is to find someone who knows all your flaws, differences and mistakes and yet sees the best in you!

God loves everyone, but I sometimes wonder if he prefers 'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts'!

Faith is like Wi-Fi, it's invisible but it has the power to connect you to what you need.

The first cordless phone was created by God. He named it "Prayer"...It never loses its signal and you never have to recharge it. Use it anywhere and anytime. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-18

A friend is someone you can be alone with and have nothing to do and not be able to think of anything to say and be comfortable in the silence. Sheryl Candice.

And don't you just love it when you see an old friend, it is just like it was yesterday, instead of years, since you have visited!

Choose faith over worry!

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

GOT IT RIGHT? WRONG.While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife, Grace, listened to the instructor say, “It is essential that husbands and wives know each other’s likes and dislikes.” He addressed the men, “Can you name your wife’s favorite flower?” Tom leaned over, touched her arm gently and whispered, “Its Pillsbury isn’t it? I am continually reminded of how blessed I am to get to be a part of Christ's body, which he called "the Church." It's not really my doing or our doing that we get to be a part of such a wonderful gathering as the Church, but it's Jesus' doing.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

I like that part about being "holy and blameless" because I know I could never achieve that on my own. I am a sinner in need of a Savior.

My point is that the church has given me many blessings through the years. Maybe we can be reminded of some of them today.

AccountabilityFellow Christians can urge and direct me to continue in the faith and grow in my walk with Christ. If I start living contrary to the Gospel, because of my connection within the body of Christ (Church), someone will come alongside me and gently show me a better way.

2 Timothy 4:1,2 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction.

FellowshipI have some wonderful friendships with people outside the church. I don't want to lose them. But there is something special about the friendships I have made through the church. Singing together, studying God's Word together, praying together, laughing together and maybe even crying together develops a bond that even in eternity will not be broken.

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Gospel InstructionGod ordained the preaching of His Word. It seems silly that a man could stand up on stage and talk for 30+ minutes and it have any effect. But the Holy Spirit works through preaching. Though preaching can be done anywhere, even outside of a "church service", it's within an organized church assembly where I have been touched and convicted the most often, through Biblical preaching.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

ComfortSometimes the burdens of this world are too much to bear alone. Without the relationship we have within His church, and the comfort received from fellow Christians, imagining going through these things alone is terrifying.

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

These are just some of the things we receive by being apart of the church of Jesus Christ. What a blessing it is. And to know that someday our bridegroom is coming back for us makes it that much better.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.
