(NEW)PLAY CREW CHOSEN--MEETINGS TODAY(Chris Solmon, [email protected])The crew for The Beverly Hillbillies will be posted outside the Drama Room Door at break today. The crew meetings will be held today at 3:15 and at 5:00. Crew members need to attend one of these two meetings. The meeting will last about an hour. Crew pictures will be taken at this meeting. The costume crew will stay after the 3:15 meeting and meet until 5:00.

FOOTBALL MANAGERS AND VIDEOGRAPHERS NEEDED(Bart Stowe, stoweb1@ dyersburgcityschools.org)Football is looking for 2 managers and 2 videographers for next year’s season. If you are interested in these positions, see Coach Doug or Coach Stowe. These positions can be held by boys OR girls.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
(Nancy Austin, [email protected])Students, there are two new opportunities coming up to get volunteer hours. Service hours can go toward those required for Tennessee Promise and toward the 80 hours required for Trojan Scholars. Volunteer Opportunity:Dyer County Legacy: The Great Migration (Part of Black History Month) Student volunteers are needed to help with this event on February 5th on 5:00 at the Professional Development Center. Sign up in Student Services if you are interested.Volunteer Opportunity:Volunteers are needed to assist at the DHS Track Meets on March 29th, April 6th, April 12th, April 26th, and May 3rd. Sign up in Student Services if you are interested.
KNOCKERBALL WAIVERS DUE TODAY(Lori Finley, lfinley@ dyersburgcityschools.org)People signed up for knockerball must pick up a waiver form in the East Office and return it by today (Thursday) to be eligible.

ONE OF OUR PRINCIPALS IS GOING TO KISS A PIG!(Chris Solmon, [email protected])Which of our administrators do you want to see kiss a pig? Next week, we will have three cartons in the lunchroom during lunches and break for students to donate hygiene products such as unused toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant sticks, soap, shampoo, tissues, toilet paper etc.
Each carton will have a different name on it: Ms. Norman, Ms. Worley and Mr. Tony Jones. The person with their name on the carton with the most donations will have to kiss Dolly, our new FFA pig at the Homecoming Pep Rally. All of the donations will be given to Transitions Home of Dyer County. Be ready with your donations Monday—and get ready to see one of our principals kiss the pig!
FREE ACT PREP CLASS SATURDAY-SIGN UP BY TODAY(Kamela Rogers, [email protected])There will be a Free ACT Prep Class Saturday, Feb. 2 from 8 am to noon for all interested students. If you would like to take this Free ACT Prep class, you need to sign up in Student Services by Thursday, Jan 31. Snacks provided!
OUT OF SCHOOL DATE FORMS--DEADLINE EXTENDED TO TODAY(Joy Norman, [email protected])The out of school date forms for the homecoming dance are available in the East office. These must be back in by Wednesday, January 30 at 3:00. (Extended to today because of snow day). Students are responsible for getting these forms to the appropriate schools. Out of school dates also have to sign the form before they are turned in. Out of school dates must be at the youngest—a high school student, and at the oldest, the age of 20.
TENNIS STARTS SOON-GET YOUR PHYSICALS(Mark Schneider, [email protected])Boys and girls tennis will begin practice on Monday Feb. 11th. All students interested in trying out should be at the Dyersburg Activity Tennis Courts at 3:30. All players must have a completed physical on file, please stop by the Atrium and get one from Ms. Athena if you do not have one on file.
BETA CLUB COLLECTING PULL TABS--PART OF HOMECOMING COMPETITION(LaBrenda Coleman, [email protected])DHS Beta Club collects pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. The money raised by selling tabs goes to help sick children and their families. The Beta Club has placed containers in the Commons for classes to collect their tabs. The class with the most pull tabs at the end of the lunch hour on Friday, Feb.1st will get points added to their competition points for Basketball Homecoming. So bring in those tabs you've been saving, help your class win the competition, and help others all at the same time. Wear your DHS Spirit shirts with Dress code pants
During dress up days, students cannot wear sleeveless shirts or tanks, revealing clothes, or any pants with holes in them. Make sure your dress up attire would be something that Ms. Worley would approve of.

HOMECOMING DANCE IS TOMORROW AFTER THE GAME(Lori Finley, lfinley@ dyersburgcityschools.org)There will be a dance following the homecoming game on Friday night, February 1st. The dance will last until Midnight. The dress for the dance is Traditional Homecoming Dress, which for the gentlemen would include khakis and a button down. For the ladies, it would include dressy dresses or outfits. The cost to get in the dance is $5.00.
ATTENTION SENIORS PLANNING TO ATTEND OLE MISS(Anna Claire Bradshaw, [email protected])Attention seniors that are planning to attend Ole Miss this fall: If you would like to be considered to be the one DHS students nominated for the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, please pick up an application in Student Services. The application is due back to Miss Bradshaw by February 1st.

TUTORING HOURS AND PROCEDURES(Teresa Maxwell, tmaxwell@ dyersburgcityschools.org)Trojan Tutoring is held Mon-Fri in the mornings from 7:00 to 7:50. Additionally tutoring is held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:45, with free snacks being served from 3:00 to 3:15. Additionally, Wednesday afternoons have enrichment classes. More information will be announced soon about enrichment classes. Trojan Tutoring is open to all DHS students who wish to receive extra help in their core subjects. Trojan Tutoring is held in the Library. When you attend, be sure to sign in.

Additionally, the City School System has an app that has a DHS account you can follow. The app is the quickest way to get information in the future about snow days.
