Program objectives

The doctorate program’s mission (PhD) at HEC Montréal is to train skilled researchers and academics as well as to stimulatefundamental and applied research on management issues.

By the end of their program, students will have gained advancedknowledge in their field and advanced skills in applied scientificresearch in the context of organizations and will be prepared to fill a professor-researcher position.

• The program is aiming first and foremost at graduate students in management, or a related field, who have a strong interest and aptitude for research, who want to join the academic community as professors or as researchers.

How to submit an application for admission

Admission Requirements• Master’s Degree (in business administration or a related field)

• Very good academic file (university level)

• Admission test: GMAT or TageMage or GRE (score ≥70e percentile and up)

• Proof of French or English Proficiency (both written and oral)

• You must have completed 3 years (90 credits) of university studies entirely in French or in English

or

• An English language test (TOEFL of 100 or more or IELTS of 7 and above).

• Note that a minimal French requirement is not necessary
