Introduction

In this lesson you will be learning about shapes from creatures that roamed the earth millions of years

ago….Dinosaurs! When you have finished this book you will know all about the basic shapes and you will

choose your favorite shape and decorate it.

Page 2: Webquest 2

The Task

You will identify your favorite shape, decorating it and giving an example of the shape using a real life

object.

The Process

I will first read the book to the class, then I will divide the class into groups where each group will be

given the book, a shape chart which has all the shapes in the book as well as cutouts of each shape and

toy dinosaurs. Each group will be able to look through the book play with the dinosaurs as well as the

cutouts of each shape while listening to “The Shape Song”. After about ten to fifteen minutes I will show

a short PowerPoint of real life objects that are the same shapes as the ones they have learned.

Afterwards I will provide the groups with craft materials and the shape each student has chosen. The

student will then decorate their shapes and present them to me as they finish as well as giving me an

example of shape they have seen in the outside world.

Evaluation

The students will be graded on three aspects. And receive a score of 1-3.

Creativeness of the shape they decorate

Ability to recognize a shape

How shapes are relevant in their daily life (shape they have seen in the outside world.)

Conclusion

By the end of this project the students should know the basic shapes as well as how they are recognized

in their daily lives. The student should also practice their shapes by identifying them outside of the

classroom.
