From The CommitteeThe President and Committee are pleased to be able to advise that due to the continuing generosity and support of The Blanchard Family and Cooldrive, we, the VHRR will continue to occupy our clubrooms in Lexton Road until March 2019. This security of tenure will ensure the continuing success of our club and its activities.John Mann buys Camaro. John rang to tell me he’s sick of sitting around and sorry he sold all his cars so he’s back in the saddle with a Camaro, bought from a guy in Sydnay. Welcome back John!Friday July the 22nd is the date for a trip down memory lane regarding how fashions have changed over the years.VHRR club ambassador Bryan Thomson and his wife Loel have amassed a huge collection of fashions from around the world, and it is reputed to be the best collection in Australia. For the men, Bryan has a nice collection of motor bikes, and a car or two, which I am sure he would like to show, this will be done after the collection tour.A donation of $5.00 covers the entry fee which is donated to a local nursing home by Loel. The venue is situated at 39 Greenaway Street Bulleen, Melways Ref 32/E5 Starting time is 10.30 AM . The tour takes around one and a half hours. I have made a tentative booking with the Old England Hotel in Heidelberg, the home of many famous artists, who’s works are on the walls including Streeton, McCubbin, and Roberts to name a few.Cost: (ie. Bistro at menu prices limit of 20 people, or table service at $45.00 per head for a two course menu if more than 20).For more info contact Ron Simmonds on 5962 2331 or 0427 031 737 as I will need to know numbers a week out from the 22nd July. Cheers Simmo.Well done to Campbell Bolwell. Gave us a great talk at the last MGM. I had no idea how accomplished he was. He not only built all the Bolwell cars we know about, but Kenworth truck bodies, caravans, kids rides, defence projects and so much more. Manufacturing plants in Canada, China, Thailand (plus some I can’t recall), and of course Australia. There will be a designated area at Winton Long Track in August 2016 for anyone

that would like to display their race or road cars that are for sale.If you have a car that you would like to put on display in the Shannon’s Walk Area at Winton Long Track in August 2016 please contact Richard Williams on 0413 247 817.In regards to entry of Winton Long Track in August 2016 please note only the driver of display cars will gain free admission, all passengers will need to pay normal entry fees. Richard WilliamsEvents Vehicle CoordinatorTailem Bend South Australia The new complex will include a variable length racetrack up to 9km. in length which will be accredited to host V8 Supercars & hopefully a round of the MotoGP, in fact everything short of F1 events. All buildings will be permanent including a 283m. long pit complex, a 135 room Hotel, 4 storey race control tower, corporate facilities, function rooms & restaurants. The facility will also have it’s own airstrip, quarter mile dragstrip, drifting area, Go-Kart track, Rallycross, 4 X 4 adventure park plus bicycle & walking tracks. The venture is being funded by the Shahin family who own “BP on the run” petrol outlets in Sth. Aust. plus “Smokemart”, a chain of cigarette outlets & gift shops. Importantly Tailem Bend council are backing the project. In Sam Shahin’s own words he says, bureaucratic red tape, procurement problems & dealing with international sports regulatory bodies for 3 years I can see why motor racing circuits are not often built! No word on when the project will be completed. Brian Simpson.VHRR Rob Roy, May 1stAs I sit here reviewing the 2016 event, I find that 39 competitors entered (36 competed on the day) with 21 of those being VHRR members. We (VHRR) have typically fielded from 7 to 28 competitors at this event in previous years.Until the Triple Cup started it was not always easy to determine which clubs the drivers represented, but the numbers I have are:2006 - 95 competitors 2007 to 2010 and 2012 - between 44 and 53 competitors 2011 - 36 competitors (7 VHRR)2013 - 90 competitors2014 - 67 competitors (28 VHRR) Triple Cup2015 - 46 competitors (23 VHRR) Triple Cup2016 - 36 competitors (21 VHRR) Triple Cup

committee who have been asked to prepare a list. There are some exciting features on the program to make it more interactive and to give sponsors and supporters time to promote their products. We will have interesting product displays, wine tastings, a car detailing demo, engine pull-down and parts cleaning exhibition, a raffle with some great prizes, a “car-pull down race” (!) and awards and trophiesGabriel Gate will once again entertain us with his cooking, but is also planning what will be some challenging and amusing changes to more actively engage Club members. We are looking at a car auction, with clubs finding members/friends with a French car to sell - whether it is a goer or in parts. A reserve price can be set if desired. We will promote the cars before the day and take a small commission for a relevant charity. Got something to auction? Dig it out and let us know! One of our sponsors, Revolution Advanced Metals and Materials will demonstrate their engine parts washing equipment. We will pull down an old engine and wash the parts as part of the presentation. They have also asked people to bring along any other “really dirty old parts” that they want washed so they can use them as part of the demo.
