Wedding Ceremonies in Lebanon

Wedding ceremonies are a very significant celebration in Lebanon and are very popular and common among the country. They are celebrated from morning, then there is a break in between until early evening till midnight.

During the day

During the morning is when all the family and friends of the bride and groom gather at a “Nadi” which is a big clubhouse for wedding ceremonies and wait until the groom arrives. They wait for about 15 minutes until everyone arrives, then everybody gets into their cars and follows the grooms car to go to the brides house. The cars all follow each other in a line and are all honking to show excitement and celebration.

When they reach the bride’s house, everybody is getting out and comes to greet the bride. They sing a traditional Lebanese wedding song, as the bride comes out, they stay for about 10 minutes, then the bride and groom as well as everybody else gets into their cars and follow the bride and groom back to the clubhouse. After that the bride and groom are congratulated by all their guests before they can go back home and rest until the evening.

Later in the evening

Everybody goes home to get changed into something more formal for the evening. And one by one wherever the evening wedding is arranged, everybody comes and finds their table. There is music and usually everybody is dancing after everybody comes.

Later in the evening

Cutting the cake is done almost at the end of the ceremony. The bride and groom cut the cake together with a very large sword, once that happens they are served two glasses of champagne and switch to give each other a sip of the drink, once that is done everybody resumes to their celebration by dancing until it is passed midnight.
