    Are you one of the thousands of coupleswho got engaged over theholidays? This is the time for you and your soon-to-be to get everything youever wanted -- the time to start from scratch;

to upgrade, expand andreplace. To turn a wholebunch of mismatchedmine and yours into alifetime of ours.

A lot of couplesbecome overwhelmed, feeling they have to

get it all done at once. According to experts, thisis totally normal. Whenit comes to registering, you should relax, takeyour time and have fun. Go back to thestores of your choice asmany times as needed,or update your registryonline.

Here are someadditional tips to makewedding planning abreeze:

Plan ahead: Starta bridal registry as soonas you say yes. Thisway you will be prepared

for your engagement party and bridalshower, as well as your wedding.

P e r i o d i c a l l yupdate your registry byadding more products if you need to, even after the wedding. Be kind to procrastinators.

Dont be shy:Register for gifts ina range of prices andcategories. This will giveguests and group giverslots of options to choose from. Register now, because you wont buy

it later: You may thinkyou will... but youwont. Now is the time to let others get you thestuff youd never buyyourself. Your friendsand family might evenget together to purchasea higher priced groupgift.

Three sheets is awin: Register for at least three sets of sheets -- one for the bed, one for thelinen closet and one for the hamper. This wayyou wont be forced to dolaundry.

If you have ahybrid car parked inyour garage, recyclerain water to irrigatebackyard plants and havereplaced just about everybulb in your home with

compact fluorescents, theres a good chance thatyoure environmentallyconscious. But whatif youve just gottenengaged and want toimpart some of these

green ways of thinking to the wedding? Whatcan you do to be earth- friendly when tying theknot?

W e d d i n gindustry insiders say that the trend of goinggreen with weddings isgrowing exponentially.Experts say that goinggreen is one of the greatbusiness opportunitiesof the 21st century, and there is much potential for the wedding

industry. Going green for your wedding daydoesnt mean you have to compromise on theelements that will make the day special. It justmeans you can take alook at the details and the bigger picture anddevelop strategies thatwill minimize the impacton the planet.

    * Go local: From food to flowers, choosevendors that use locallygrown and raised

    p r o d u c t s .This reduces the amountof smogg e n e r a t e dand fuelconsumed tobring itemsin for your w e d d i n g .Many caterersare nowcollaboratingwith local farms andother vendors

    to offer o r g a n i c ,locally grownmenu items.It pays toask aboutavailability.

    * Go to your guests: Figure out where the greatest number of your guests reside and then hold the weddingnearby. For example, acouple from the Northeastwho has relocated to theWest coast, but has all of

their family still in theeast, may want to hold their wedding in the east.It is less expensive andmore environmentally

friendly for the couple to simply fly to thewedding, rather thanhaving hundreds of guests drive or fly west.

    * Chooserecycled materials for wedding invitationsand announcements:There are an increasingnumber of supplierscreating invitations from recycled materials. Some will do all theassembly for you; other less expensive itemsmay be more hands-on.Cut down on further useof paper by creating awedding Web site whereyou post directions,

maps, party times, and other essentialinformation so youavoid extra slip-in sheetswith your invitations.

    * Create car-pooloptions: Bus guests toyour venue to save ongas. It is also a safer option for those who willbe indulging in alcoholicbeverages at the partysince they wont have todrive on the return triphome.

Each year, more than 2 millionengaged couples face theexhilarating, and often times daunting task of choosing gifts for their bridal registry. Over the past decade, cookware has topped china as the No. 1 gift onbridal registries, indicating amajor shift in focus from thedining room to the kitchen.

T h a t snot surprisinggiven that youngadults todayhave come of agewatching the FoodNetwork wherecooking is center-stage 24/7, aswell as reality television serieswhere professionaland amateur chefs compete in the kitchen. Ayearning to learnhow to cook hassparked the launchof new food magazinesand cookbooks, as wellas a seemingly endlesssupply of Web sitesand Internet chat roomsdevoted to food.

In this milieu of heightened awarenessof all things culinary,

it makes perfect sense that cookware reignssupreme on the minds of couples contemplating their bridal registrylist. However, given the enormous amountof cookware options

    available, many couplesapproach registeringwith trepidation.

    * Do a little soul-searching to discover your cooking style:Everyone has their own food style, including preferences for types of cuisines and cookingmethods. And dont forget toregister for a few basic

tools and gadgets, suchas a garlic press, boxgrater (to grate cheese), pasta fork, and solidspoon for stirring thesauce.

Prefer simplygrilled burgers, chickenand fish? Register for astovetop grill pan. Most pans are made for use ona single burner and comein round and squareshapes.* Remember the holidays:

Getting married oftenmeans starting to host family gatherings for the holidays. Givesome thought to whatequipment you willneed to create favorite family recipes and

traditional dishes. A generouslsized roasting panis essential for cooking turkey, ham or a standingrib roast.

    Dont forget

dessert! Theholidays wouldntbe the same without festive cookies, pies, cakes and sweetbreads made fromrecipes passed down from generation togeneration.

    * Whos doing the dishes? Mostlikely, cleaning upafter dinner is nothigh on the list of things you love todo. If getting outof the kitchen as

fast as possible is a priority, select cookware thats completdishwasher safe. Qualitycookware leads to yearsof culinary bliss: Now is the perfect time to makea commitment to eachother that cooking will play a major role in your married life. Cookingoffers so many benefits-- from engagingall your senses and

teaching you teamwork, to soothing your spiritsafter a stressful dayat work. Cookinginspires creativity and physically nurtures youin a way thats usuallymuch more healthy andbudget-friendly thanrestaurant meals and take out. To get the mostout of your cookware, look for these features, found on better qualitycookware.

One of the mostimportant aspects of your wedding dayis the photographer: the moments of your wedding day might fade from memory by

your 50th anniversary(or even your 25th),but beautiful andmeaningful photoswill last a lifetime andremind you years fromnow of the crystalline

    sweetness of your wedding day.

Its an honor for me to be asked to take part in what should beone of the best days ina couples life. Iwant to capture those moments that will last a life time, said Mt. Juliet photographer Dale Dorman. Idont want them to just look at these pictures after they get them, butI want them tolook at them 10,15 or 25 years from now and beable to relive thosemoments and toremember how they felt. I want them to see the fun, the familyand the friendswho were there tocelebrate their day.Ill capture it all.Ive had my brides tellme You were everywhere taking pictures and yougot everything, but youwere never intrusive. I think thats important.

Dorman startedin photography around15 years ago as anassistant to another wedding photographer who was also a friend.

She knew I hadalways had an interestedin photography and asa result she had askedif I could assist her ata wedding, Dormansaid. It was a lot of fun.She asked if I would bewilling to help her againand of course I did. Now,all these years later itsstill fun for me. Thatswhy I do it.

Dorman saidhes had the pleasureof photographing someof Nashvilles most favorite and popular wedding venues, incorporating the beauty

and history of the areain his signature style. He said he likes to usewindows and doorways, taking advantage of theinteresting and ornate

    architecture of the area.Ive photographed

weddings at TheParthenon, UnionStation, HermitageHotel, Cheekwood,Scarritt Bennett, TheNashville Zoo andRiverwood Mansion. Each of these locations isunique in their own wayand really say somethingabout the personalities of the couple. I mean howcould you not have funat the zoo or be in aweof the history of UnionStation or the beautyof Cheekwood or theserenity and tranquilityof Riverwood Mansion,Dorman said. I love photographing at oldhomes such as the SamDavis Home or Andrew

Jacksons Hermitage. There is such character and charm in these places. But the mostspecial place for me to photograph is RiverwoodMansion because thats

    where I was married.Dorman said

that after 15 years in thebusiness its difficult tochoose a favorite weddinghes photographed,

one certainlystands out in hismemory. This is really

hard. But I did photograph wedding a fewyears ago thatdoes stand out. A couple of yearsearlier the bridebecame criticallyill. She wasntexpected to live;however, she beat the odds although they said shewould never walkagain. No onereally knew thedetermination shehad to walk down the aisle. It wasan emotional day for everyone. The

ceremony began, themusic started, the doorsopened and everyonestood. They pushed her wheelchair to the edgeof the aisle and stopped. Then this beautiful bridestood and made the walkof a life time down theaisle. I dont believe therewas a dry eye in the place.

D o r m a nrecommends couples tobegin planning their wedding early and take their time.

I wouldencourage any couple to start planning their wedding no later than10 months prior to their wedding date. Meet withyour vendors. Take the time to enjoy planningwhat should be one of themost fabulous days of the beginning of your lives together. For moreinformation call 754- 7520.

It has becomecommonplace for couples to practice what will beexpected of them and the wedding party during the weddingc e r e m o n y . A church or s y n a g o g u emay require anabbreviated run through of theceremony, and the officiantwill instruct the

wedding party onhow to enter andleave the building,as well as when to engage inscripture readings, etc. This rehearsal typically takes place the eveningbefore the weddingor a few days prior.

After therehearsal, its customary for the immediate family and wedding

party to go out to dinner together and get to knoweach other before thewedding. Traditionally,

the grooms parents host the dinner, which gives the mother of the grooma role in the wedding festivities. However,

many of todaysmodern couples factor the rehearsal dinner costinto their overall wedding

    budget.The rehearsal

dinner doesnt have to be an extravagantaffair. It can take place at a restaurantor even in someonesbackyard. Some of the best are informaland really alloweveryone to mingle. This occasion is

also the ideal time to give groomsmenand bridesmaidsa gift for their participation in thewedding, especiallyif a bridesmaidluncheon is notbeing held. Thebride and groom

should also thankeveryone for being a partof their special day andhelped out with all of thewedding planning.

Perfecting the Rehearsal DinnerPerfecting the Rehearsal Dinner

Did You Know?According to theCenters for DiseaseControl and Prevention(CDC), more than 2million couples getmarried across theUnited States each year.Counting honeymoonand other wedding-related expenses, thewedding industrygrosses more than $1

billion annually. If 2million weddings per year seems like a highnumber, consider thestatistics in China, wherea reported more than9 million weddings in2006 alone. And thoughAmericans, particularlythose who have alreadywalked down the aisle, are often quick to

bemoan the high cost of weddings, those costsare not exclusive to the

    Western hemisphere.

To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup,

Most brides dontwant stress while gettingwell-tressed for their wedding day. Besideshiring a reputablestylist and ensuringa practice hairdo runbefore the wedding, here are a few helpful tips.

Wear abutton-down shirtwhen having your hair and makeupdone on your weddingday - or for any other special occasion. Thisway you can takeoff the shirt without touching your hair or makeup.

Bring inyour veil or headpiecein advance so your stylist can ensure that the haircombs

attached will be in the right position for thestyle youve requested. If theyre not, youll haveample time to have that

    rectified. Dont apply

conditioner to your hair on the day of your wedding. Conditioner

may make your hair toosilky and smooth, whichcould be a disadvantagewhen you want hair to

stay put and hold combsor pins in an up-do.

Opt for a two- piece veil if you desire along cathedral-style veil.

This way you cankeep the long portionattached for picturesand the ceremonyand then simplyremove a portion for the reception anddancing the nightaway.

If your headpiecehas gemstonesor crystals in thedesign, have thestylist cover thestones up as muchas possible beforelocking in your stylewith hairspray. After the wedding, talk toa jeweler about theright way to clean

the stones. Otherwise the spray can tarnish theheadpiece and potentiallydamage the stones.

Go with a simplestyle that matchesyour personality. You dont want tolook like a completelydifferent person on your wedding day - just abetter representation of yourself.
