Legal Requirements

The following ORIGINAL documents must be brought with you to Cyprus, preferably in your hand luggage. The documents need to be either written in or translated into Greek or English:

These requirements apply to British passport holders only. All other nationalities must refer to their respective government agencies for accurate information regarding the necessary paperwork.

Note: For symbolic ceremonies, blessings, religious ceremonies or renewal of vows the requirements vary so please contact your wedding coordinator for further details.

It is vital that the wedding couples read and understand the Legal Requirements and Documentation section. It is theresponsibility of the wedding couple to arrive in Cyprus with the correct original documentation. WITHOUT THE CORRECT DOCUMENTATION THE WEDDING CEREMONY CANNOT PROCEED

1. VALID PASSPORTS with at least 3 months left to run after the date of travel.

2. BIRTH CERTIFICATES Long, original certified documents.

3. STATUTORY DECLARATION (Also known as Sworn Affidavit or Certificate of No Impediment) signed by a solicitor or notary public confirming your marital status, i.e. divorced, widowed or single, and that you are free to marry. This document must be dated, signed and stamped by the issuing solicitor or notary public. A business card should also accompany this document. Such documents are only valid for 3 months maximum prior to the date of the wedding. Ideally, the document should be obtained between 8 and 12 weeks prior to the wedding date. The couple must ensure their validity at the time of application and on the actual wedding date.

4. COPIES OF TWO WITNESSES’ PASSPORTS (copy of photo page). Witnesses can be provided by the hotel if required.

5. DECREE ABSOLUTE (in case of divorce)

Step By Step Planning Process

Your Dream WEDDING PLANNING Kanika weddings are designed to take all the stress out of planning a wedding. Apart from some paperwork that has to be arranged in your country of residence, the rest is in the good hands of your Kanika wedding coordinator. She’ll ask you all the right questions, give you all the options, help you visualize your dream wedding - and then make it all happen, step by step:

Step 1 Submit your enquiry form with your preferred dates and times. Our personal wedding coordinator will contact you to confirm availability.

Step 2 Prepare all the documents you will need to bring with you to Cyprus, as advised by your wedding coordinator.

Step 3 Upon confirmation of final date and time, your wedding coordinator will submit an application on your behalf to the relevant Town Hall and request the attendance and services of a marriage officer at the hotel.

Step 4 Guided by your wedding coordinator, you will choose your preferred venues and menus for your ceremony and celebration, based on your guest list and your catering requirements.

Step 5 Discuss your preferred wedding theme and style, as well as any extras you might like, such as additional decorative items, wedding favours, photography, fireworks, entertainment etc - and you’re done! Your wedding coordinator will advise, arrange and confirm.

Step 6 Ensure that you have collected all the necessary documents that must be submitted to the authorities here in Cyprus.

Step 7 A meeting with your wedding coordinator will be scheduled upon arrival at the Resort.

Step 8 You are welcome to oversee the venue preparation and will receive a template of the seating arrangement for you to complete. The detailed schedule of the day’s events will be confirmed.

1. I would like to dine from the half-board premium on my wedding day. Is this possible?

The Half-Board Premium is not available to use for your wedding night. There is a special wedding menu charged at an additional supplement which is separate from the Half-Board premium entitlement. It is prepared exclusively for you by our executive chefs and served at the time of your choice in one of our designated wedding venues that can be privatised for you at a venue hire fee as stated in this brochure. A dedicated head waiter and a banqueting team will also be available to serve you and your guests in your chosen private venue. If you have a small number of guests and you do not wish to have a private venue and wish to dine in one of the main restaurants we will reserve a table for you. This will not be private and along with other hotels guests however there will be a charge for the wedding menu as shown in this brochure. On your wedding day you can use your Half-Board premium entitlement for lunch.

2. Are children allowed to enter the hotel just to attend the wedding?

The Amavi works under the couples-only hotel concept, with a minimum age of 18 years for both residents and wedding guests. Therefore it is strictly prohibited for any children under the age of 18 to enter the hotel at any time.The Hotel reserves the right to agree a minimum number of guests to be charged for the reception or dining event at this time.

3. Do you provide a seperate room where the groom can get ready on the morning of the wedding?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a separate room for the groom to prepare himself for the wedding. In most cases the groom will use a room booked for other family members or friends. However, if we have a room available, this can be offered at an applicable charge.

4. Do i bring my own music for the ceremony or is it provided by the hotel?

You can bring your own ceremony music on a USB that we will play for you during the ceremony from our sound system. We would kindly ask you to provide three main songs: one to be played as the bride walks down the aisle, one for signing the marriage certificate and a last one while the married couple walks back down the aisle. Alternatively, we have a lovely selection of music to be played during the ceremony or you may inform the wedding coordinator at the hotel of your preferred songs so these can be arranged for you.

5. Is it ok if some guests attending my wedding are not staying in the hotel? Any non-hotel resident guests attending the wedding are allowed to enter the hotel one hour before the ceremony and depart after the end of the event. Any food or beverages consumed by the wedding guests, other that the agreed wedding arrangements, will be charged at the normal rates.

6. Can i book my own suppliers for my wedding?

It is strictly prohibited for any external suppliers to enter the hotel premises. Any wedding services such as entertainment, photography, floral arrangements, decorations, hair and make-up etc must be booked via the hotel’s wedding coordinator and only approved suppliers can be used.

7. Can i bring my own wedding cake?

For Health & Safety reasons it is strictly prohibited for any food items to be brought into the hotel. Your wedding cake must be booked through the hotel and we have a lovely selection of wedding cakes and different flavours for you to choose from. We can also prepare bespoke wedding cakes upon request and at an additional supplement.

8. If the wedding dress or grooms suit get creased during the journey can it be steamed?

We offer a professional steaming service that can be arranged through our wedding coordinator at an additional charge. We recommend that you book this service at least 3 working days in advance to ensure that your dress and/or suit are ready on time for your wedding day.

1. Weddings are performed once per week, subject to availability.

2. During the months June - September the maximum capacity for weddings is 20 guests and for October - May the maximum capacity is 10 guests.

3. Upon arrival at the Hotel, a meeting to finalise your wedding event will be arranged with the hotel’s wedding coordinator. It is imperative that the couple attend.

4. Requested wedding dates will not be finalised until acceptance of the saiddate and time is confirmed by the Municipality.

5. The Hotel reserves the right to agree a minimum number of guests to be charged for the reception or dining event at this time.

6. The legal documents required to marry in Cyprus are the responsibility of the wedding couple and all original documents must be brought with them to Cyprus.

7. Details of all required documents are found on page 22 and will be sent as part of the booking confirmation. For any queries or uncertainty regarding the required documents, the wedding couple must contact the wedding coordinator prior to their arrival in Cyprus.

8. The Hotel reserves the right to substitute any product with that of a product equivalent in terms of value should the original product be unavailable.

9. The Hotel reserves the right to change the venue of the function if required, or in the case of adverse weather conditions. In this case no refunds shall be offered.

10. Guests are responsible for any loss or damages made to the venue, furniture, table decorations and other equipment. In case of any damage, the guests will be charged accordingly by the Hotel management.

11. The wedding couple must be resident at the hotel for a minimum of 7 nights.

12. External suppliers will not be allowed to enter the Hotel, specifically Hairdressers, Beauticians, Make-up Artists, Florists, Musicians or Entertainers, Cake Suppliers and Photographers.

13. All services required for the wedding must be organised through the Hotel wedding coordinator.

14. Food items such as wedding cakes from external suppliers are strictly prohibited in the Hotel.

15. Wedding cakes which are not consumed on the wedding day are not the responsibility of the Hotel and will not be kept for health & safety reasons. No storage facility can be provided.

16. The administration fee of €400 applies to all weddings booked directly with Kanika Hotels & Resorts. This fee is in addition to any services or packages booked by the wedding couple.

17. For direct bookings, in order to secure your wedding date and venues in advance, a non-refundable deposit of €500 is required which will be deducted from the final settlement.

18. Full payment for the function is to be settled at least 24 hours prior to the function.

19. A service charge of €200 will be applicable if the wedding dinner is not held in the Hotel.

20. The Hotel is not obliged to refund any lost meals.

21. The Ezaria Main Restaurant is not available on the wedding night for wedding parties.

22. Half-Board premium allowance is not offered for the wedding night and wedding menu will be charged at the applicable rate as shown in this brochure.

23. Guests who wish to have a private function with a special menu and services will pay the supplements as shown in this brochure.

24. Non-Resident weddings are only permitted on a request basis, at the sole discretion of the Hotel. Additional supplement charges will apply.

25. Guest numbers cannot be reduced on the wedding day.

26. If guest numbers increase every effort will be made to accommodate this, and the relevant charges will apply.

27. Changes to the agreement cannot be made within 24 hours of the wedding day. Full payment will be required for all agreed services.

28. The times set for the service of the private banqueting menu are fixed and cannot be changed. Any delays could result in compromising the service and the food quality; in this case the Hotel will accept no responsibility.

29. Unscheduled or prolonged activities such as photography, excursions, tour, speeches etc which affect the agreed plan for the day may result in additional charges if additional or replacement menu items have to be prepared.

30. The Hotel management is obliged to abide by Cyprus regulations according to which the Management reserves the right to refuse the provision of services to intoxicated guests. The abuse of alcohol and irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated.

31. Any personal items found at the venue at the end of your function will be returned to lost property. However, no responsibility can be taken for any property which is not located by the Hotel.

32. Music and entertainment within private venues will finish at 11:00 p.m. Volume levels remain under the control of the Hotel at all times.

33. Only authorised suppliers and Hotel staff are permitted to use Hotel equipment.

Cancellation Fees for any wedding services/extras booked: Over 30 days before the wedding date - no charge.

Between 20 to 30 days before the wedding - 30% charge on the total cost of chosen service.

Between 7 to 20 days before the wedding - 50% charge on the total cost of chosen service.

Less than 7 days before the wedding - 100% charge on the total cost of chosen service.
