Mrs Sharon Lockhart - Hello parents. I am so sorry I couldn't be there today but I am still living in Northampton at the

moment. I have been in Northampton for 12 years, prior to that I lived near Toronto Canada for most of my life.

I was born in Jarrow so I am a Geordie Canadian! I have had a varied career that has included running a living history museum, child and youth

supervisor at the YMCA and working for both Ontario Parks and then the Parks Trust in Milton Keynes where I ran events and education programmes. I'm very proud that some of my events still run today including the World Picnic and the Big Doggie Do!

Teaching was something I always wanted to do from an early age and in many ways I have always been a teacher just not in a classroom. I was thrilled to get into the Graduate Teacher Programme and trained in Milton Keynes with a year 6 class and spent 2 years in year six.

I moved to a school closer to home but the only position was year 1. I have spent 6 years with KS1. My first day was a shock especially when one boy decided clothes were optional! I am looking forward to being back in upper KS2..clothes are not optional.

In 6 weeks I will be moving to Suffolk with my two youngest children who are 11 and 4. I have 2 more, one who is 24 and working and the other who is 18 and starting contemporary dance training at Laban Conservatoire in September.

I am really looking forward to being at Tattingstone in September and believe strongly in developing a good working relationship between parents and teachers. As a parent myself I do know how important good communication is. I truly believe each child is unique and will work hard to help them reach their full potential.

I will see you all July 1st for transition day. Sharon

‘Quick answer’ issues The playground and hall – bids/grants committee. Still paying the debt from the current

extension of Years 5/6 classroom and office – can’t invest in a hall of any kind until this has been paid off. Change in Government, slashed capital funding, so taking much longer to pay off this debt than originally intended.

A kitchenette is to be established in Kingfisher class to enable the children to take part in more cooking activities with a new ‘working’ cooker! Wipe clean flooring to clear up after dinners, with a designated carpet area. Whole of Kingfisher class to be redecorated as we agree it looks shabby!

Early Birds – under review. As Mrs Van der Plumn is no longer able to run Early Birds this is giving us the opportunity to revisit how this is set up. We can inform you about this later this term.

Languages – This should be taught on a weekly basis, and this is one example where I would not advocate ‘blocking’ lessons, as little and often is more beneficial. We used to teach a variety of languages but advice was to just focus on one language and the preferred language of the high school is French, so all teachers should be teaching this on a weekly basis.

The PTA – We had two teachers who wanted to become involved as they were also parents, plus Mrs Derrett who has always represented staff on the PTA. The core committee is strong but of course they would continue to welcome as many parents helping out with events as possible, hence their decision to thank people and show their appreciation. Previous members are quite welcome to continue to be involved. The more parents that come to the meetings, the more involved they will be in making the decisions around spending the money – these decisions are made by the committee at the meetings, to which everyone is invited to attend – the first Tuesday of each month.

you want answers to?What do you think is good about our school?

EFMS who provide our school dinners with the opportunity for a question/answer session. Could introduce a ‘sittings’ system.
