Principal’s Message
School Council elections
As we received only 2 nominations for the 2 vacant positions, Dimple Sandhu and Katrina McFarlane will begin their
2 year terms on School Council. Congratulations Dimple and Katrina.
Urban Camp
Information has been sent home regarding the upcoming grade 5/6 Urban Camp in Melbourne.
The camp will be held from 16th to the 18th of March. Students will travel to and from Melbourne by train.
Cleaning Roster
A new Cleaning Roster will be organised ready for the start of term 2. It is pleasing that all families have indicated a
willingness to be on the roster. The money we save enables School Council to subsidise our programs, excursions
and camps.
Lunch orders
Lunch orders will start this Thursday. Hopefully everyone has a lunch order form on their fridge. Thank you to
Dimple, Amrit and the team at the Lake Charm store.
Lake Charm Landcare
The members of the Lake Charm/Mystic Park Land Care Group have been busy cleaning up the school and will be
returning soon to do a bit more work. Thank you!
Clean Up Australia Day
Last Friday was Clean Up Australia (Schools) Day. The students did a wonderful job cleaning up around the school

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Reading really does Matter
Please read with your
child/ren every night, help
them to learn the joys of
reading.
What’s happening In The Classroom?
The senior students are finishing off the publication of their Magic Fish (theme) books. We look forward to
sharing these books with the wider community.
This term we have focussed on Mathletics. The students have enthusiastically worked through almost a
year’s work in the space of about six weeks.
In Respectful Relationships we have been working in the topic of Emotional Literacy.
In sport/physical education, to coincide with the Women’s 20 20 World Cup, one of our major activities has
been ‘cricket’. Sahej has proven to be a rather wily bowler.
All students are expected to read regularly (daily) at home. Please take the opportunity to listen to your child
read and ask them about what they are reading.
This month the students read and translated an Indonesian story book. They did a fabulous job translating and
reading to their peers. We also completed a role play and revised some songs.
From Miss Noonan
On Friday the 28th of February the students participated in Clean Up Australia Day by picking up
rubbish from in front of the school to the picnic stop. The students were amazed at some of the
items they found……lots of bits of tyres, smashed bottles.
At the end of Summer the students each wrote a poem titled “Summer”. Paige’s poem was based on
the five senses and how that connected to summer.
Concert News: If you are interested in a copy of the school concert/s from recent years, I have them all to copy. I
bought a bigger storage drive for myself so that I have all the concerts on one portable drive.
We have been given plums in recent weeks so
I decided to use some up in cooking. I settled
on a plum torte recipe, which the students
baked with supervision and help from Dimple
on Friday. Most of us enjoyed eating it!
Thankyou to Dimple for her help in making it.
Student Fundraising
ZOOPER DOOPERS for sale @50c every lunchtime. Miss Noonan and Mr. Millard are donating the Zooper
Doopers and the funds we raise will go towards those less fortunate than ourselves. Ms Noonan is looking for some small bits of poly pipe, tins or plastic containers that would fit a tennis ball through,
for science. If you have anything that might suit send it in and I will have a look at it. Thankyou.
