Dear Kent Road Parents and students,
This week’s return to school is off to a great start with over 94% of Kent Road students back in classrooms today, with smiles on their faces and working hard.
Whilst a few students have been a little apprehensive at the new drop off procedures, as soon as they see their friends and their teachers their eyes light up and they happily go into their classrooms.
Every teacher is reminding students of safe hygiene practices regularly throughout each day, including using hand sanitizer as they enter classrooms, regularly washing hands with soap, sneezing and coughing into the elbow.
Below are some images of our students hard at work this week.

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
I ask all parents and grandparents to read the information on the following page regarding pedestrian safety. It is everyone’s responsibility to follow the road safety rules to ensure children, parents and grandparents arrive at, and leave, school safely each day.
STUDENT REPORTS
Over the next few weeks teachers will be undertaking assessments in Reading, Writing and Mathematics to establish each student’s progress since the beginning of the year and current learning needs.
Teachers will then have a clear picture of how to plan future learning experiences going forward into Term Three. Early indications are that the majority of students have been working hard at home and at school in the past eight weeks and they are showing progress in these areas.
This assessment data will provide information for teachers to prepare a summary report for parents which will indicate the progress students have made and the areas for future focus. Teachers will also be available for a phone interview with parents early in Term 3 to discuss student progress.

DISMISSAL of STUDENTS
The government has stated parents are to remain outside the school unless going to OOSH, or the administration office.
However, for the safety of our youngest students in Kindergarten and Year One, the school has implemented procedures to dismiss Kindergarten and Year One students from outside their classrooms between 2.50-3.10pm.
Parents enter the school via a designated gate, collect their child from outside the Kindergarten and Year One classrooms and then leave the grounds.
Kindergarten parents should enter via gate 5 near the uniform office and exit from gate 4
near the administration office. .
Year One parents should enter and exit from gate 3 near the kiss and drop on Kent Road.
A member of staff will open the gates and direct parents where to collect their child/children. It is imperative that parents and grandparents maintain a safe distance from each other in and around the school.
Students in Years Two-Six students will be sent to the gate from which they usually leave. Parents of students in Years Two – Six must wait for their children outside the gates.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
There have been two incidents in the past week where a Kent Road parent, grandparent and child have narrowly missed being hit by cars on Kent Road. These incidents could have been avoided if the adults crossed at the pedestrian crossing.
On Monday I was emailed footage of a parent who narrowly missed being hit by a car whilst crossing Kent Road. The car’s dashcam clearly showed the parent was not on the pedestrian crossing, not watching the traffic and was very lucky to not be injured.
Yesterday a grandparent and young child were almost hit by a car because they attempted to run across Kent Road in front of a car.
It is the responsibility of every adult in and around the school to model to children the correct behavior for crossing roads.
The extra 30 seconds it would take to walk to the crossing is surely a small price to pay to save someone’s life.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Hope you have all been keeping safe and well. This is just a call out to all parents/carers who would like to be
included in the class communication chain (email distribution list and class directory) but have not yet reached
out to your Class Parent. A list of our 2020 Class Parents is provided below for your information. You can make
contact with the Class Parent in your child's class through the following ways:
1) fill in an online form by clicking on the Online Form link for your child's class,
2) email the Class Parent Coordinator (Isabella) at krps.classparentcoordinator_at_gmail_dot_com, who will
then direct you to your Class Parent.
It would be really helpful if we can get as many parents/carers as possible to take part, as this will allow our
school, teachers, and Class Parents to easily keep you informed of school related matters via email. The class
directory can also help you remain connected with other parents/carers in your child's class.
Thank you, everyone!
