SCIENCE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Volunteers are needed for a family friendly Science Festival at Lake Ella Park on Saturday, October 3 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. It is free and open to the public. Volunteers will help set-up, break down, direct traffic, clean up, be a friendly face, and more. If you or members of your organization would like to volunteer at the festival, email Bill Grace at [email protected]. If you can’t volunteer, consider visiting the Science Festival at Lake Ella.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Sustainable Campus is piloting a new project and needs some help! Volunteers (FSU Students Only) are needed to help install shower timers in two of the on-campus residence halls. LEADERSHAPE INTERNSHIP

LeaderShape has spent nearly 30 years developing and facilitating programs that provide time and space for participants and facilitators to have conversations that matter. LeaderShape is looking for 2 interns to contribute to this community engagement work by creating opportunities for learning and connection through social media and online presence. Ways in which this work will be accomplished include:

• Thoroughly understanding all of LeaderShape’s mission and programs

• Helping to curate and create content that supports and moves forward the goals and work of LeaderShape

• Reviewing webinar submissions • Assisting in content creation, such as researching and

creating personal and professional development resources and activities

• Creating and managing content schedule and distribution • Observing and monitoring portal activity • Preparing progress reports to share status of work

Applicants should be highly motivated and energetic, proficient in social media and comfortable learning new platforms, outstanding writing skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, appreciation for the importance of building community, and positive on-line self-representation. FEDERAL WORK STUDY POSITION: CENTER OPERATIONS STUDENT ASSISTANT

This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study Program. Please make sure you have received the Federal Work-Study Award prior to applying. There are multiple specialized positions available – receptionist, fleet management assistant, evening staff, and programmatic support staff. Student Assistants are responsible for performing a wide variety of important tasks such as assisting with daily operations, upkeep of the Center, and/or assisting with cluster programs. Student Assistants will have the opportunity to cover the front desk as needed (answering phones and assisting visitors who come in seeking information or services). Students should be able to work 8 to 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday with the willingness to perform a shift during evening hours. Duties include: maintaining the department’s fleet of vans (filling up with gas, replenishing forms, data entry of mileage logs, transporting to/from repair shop, etc.); organizing/cleaning spaces in the building (storage closets, work rooms, etc.); research and training related to multiculturalism, identity and diversity awareness; and helping with other special projects. FEDERAL WORK STUDY POSITION: FRONT DESK STUDENT ASSISTANT:

Student Assistants are responsible for performing a wide variety of important tasks at the Center for Leadership & Social Change, assisting with the daily operations and upkeep of the Center, both on the front lines and behind the scenes. Duties include covering the front desk as needed (answering phones and assisting visitors who come in seeking information or services, organizing/cleaning spaces in the building (storage closets, work rooms, etc.); and helping with other special projects. This position serves as the primary back up to the front desk receptionist. Students must be available Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm to work. Opportunity to work evening hours is also possible. Applicants should have been awarded Federal Work Study through the Office of Financial Aid in order to apply. Duties include: • Basic office duties such as filing, making copies, organizing spaces,

and other tasks as needed • Running errands on and off campus • Ability to drive a minivan or 15 passenger van and refuel when

needed (training provided) • Reception desk coverage when needed – must be comfortable

LIVING HISTORY POSITIONS Mission San Luis is seeking individuals who are able to join a team of dedicated living history interpreters. An interest in and knowledge of historic sites and museums is a plus. The ability to learn the history and culture of the 17th and early 18th century Apalachee and Spanish residents of San Luis is essential.
