Midwest Equipment Auc- tions and High Plains Radio present the $25,000 roll. The first 100 people at the Expo today at 5:00 will get a chance to roll the dice. Spell out “WINNER” and you win $25,000. RAILROAD CROSSING REPAIR SCHEDULED Railroad crossing repair work is scheduled to begin Novem- ber 25 on N-25, in Trenton, according to the Nebraska De- partment of Transportation. N-25 will be closed at the rail- road crossing located in Trenton. North and southbound N- 25 traffic will be detoured. The detour will use L-44B across the Swanson Reservoir Dam. Work is anticipated to take one day. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near construction zones, selected alternate detours and to expect delays. FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE McCook Community College Business Instructor Lorrie Mowry took students to the Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda Fall Leadership Conference in Omaha. Students attending included: Kaleb Gillen, Deanne Crocker and Autumn Miller. This annual confer- ence is designed to connect members with businesses and busi- ness professionals, train local officers and members, and share information on Nebraska PBL activities and goals. The confer- ence was held at Gallup in Omaha. MCC’s PBL students toured Conagra and heard from the one of their vice presidents in Omaha, as well as IT, supply chain management, and product development. “We were able to taste test a couple of new product ideas as well they were tasty,” Mowry said. The group also had “state” dinner with the other chapters from Ne- braska that night. On Friday, at Gallup in Omaha, the MCC group heard from several business professionals, participated in a professional business panel question and answer session. The keynote speaker was Taylor Seibert, of Striv, a sports streaming service. Traditionally one of the popular events at this annual event is the Business Panel and Networking Lunch- eon. This year that luncheon included representatives from: OTB Blue, Cognitive Clinical Trials, Gallup, First National Bank of Omaha, Sandhills, Seim Johnson, First State Insurance, Nelnet, Brown's Medical Imaging, Sapp Bros., Inc, Nebraska Depart- ment of Banking and Finance, Aureus Group, Harry A. Koch, Edward Jones, Nebraska Recycling Council, and Tenaska, Inc. SPORTS The Colby Community College basketball team overcame a slow start to the second half but came back to hand McCook Community College an 81-71 loss Tuesday at the Colby Community Building. Down 40-35 at halftime, MCC came out 9-0 in the first two and a half minutes of the second half to take a 44-40 lead. Colby hit a free-throw at the 16:07 mark to close within 44-41 but the Indians responded with five straight points to take an eight-point lead 49-41 at the 15:00 minute mark. The Trojans responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead 51-49 and with 12:08 left. “We didn’t play hard for 40 minutes, maybe 20 combined,” said MCC Coach Kyle Drennan. MCC tied the game at 56-56 at the 8:24 mark. Colby stretched the lead to 66-60 with 5:48 left and kept the Indians at arm’s length for the remainder of the game. Sophomore transfer Raheim Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario) and freshman LeTre Darthard (Denton, Texas) led MCC with 13 points each. MCC falls to 3-3 and the Indians will play their final home game of the calendar year Friday. MCC will take on Western Wyoming Community College in a women’s/men’s doubleheader. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow. The Mustang men are 4-1 having split a pair of games with Western Nebraska. Western Wyoming and is among a group of teams receiving votes in this week’s top 20 Division I poll. Nebraska outside hitter Madi Kubik was named the Big Ten Fresh-man of the Week. Kubik averaged 4.38 kills per set and 2.25 digs per set in wins over Michigan State and Iowa last week and was honored with her second career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. The West Des Moines, Iowa native had 19 kills and tied her career high with 16 digs in the five-set win over Iowa on Saturday. She recorded 16 kills on .306 hitting in a sweep at Michigan State last Wednesday.
