Brooklyn BridgeBy Caroline Loomer

A warm sunny morningfollowing a day of torturous rain.Brilliant shallow puddles reflect the light like diamonds. We marvel at its cathedral peakstogether, hand in hand.

We stroll, make new plans, laugh. The comfort of five married yearspads the souls of our feetas we let bikers, runners, and other hurried pedestrians rush by.I take in the waters, greenish-blue and fresh and sparkling -

or are those your eyes?

You indulge your affinity for photography -your sensitive eyes transform the most unexpected objectsinto worthy subjects - the leaves gliding in the puddle, the ? central park, me.

We take our time, enjoy each other - the bridge is long and there is much to appreciate.

Miles of glistening cable weave together - like our lives -to form an inseparable web of strength.

The stone masonry, perfectly shaped and nuzzled together, the smooth silhouette a result of weathering wayward storms.

The expanse of the Manhattan skyline, its breadth a source of optimism and possibility for all dreamers.

The merging of grace and muscle - a message for all.

My message to you?Keep this memory tucked in your back pocketfor those days you sense the storm might unravel the cable.Absorb the skyline for safekeeping when it seems like our dreams teter on the pier. And most importantly, remember

Brooklyn BridgeBy Caroline Loomer

A glowing golden morning warmly greets us,absorbs the drenching downpouruntil all that remains arebrilliant shallow puddles that reflect the light like diamonds.

We marvel at its cathedral peakstogether, hand in hand.

We stroll, make new plans, laugh. The comfort of five married yearspads the souls of our feetas we let bikers, runners, and hurried pedestrians buzz by.I take in the waters, greenish-blue and fresh and sparkling -

mirrors of your eyes.

You indulge your pleasure of photography -your sensitive eyes transform the most unexpected objectsinto worthy subjects - two leaves embrace as they ease through a puddle,

skyscraper skies hug an algae topped pond,

me.

We take our time, enjoy each other - the bridge is long and there is so much to appreciate.

Miles of glistening cable spun tightly and strung like harp strings, a song of support vibrating from their chords.

The stone masonry, perfectly shaped and nestled together;its smooth silhouette the result of weathering wayward storms.

The expanse of the Manhattan skyline, its breadth a source of optimism and possibility for all dreamers.

The merging of grace and muscle - a message for all.

My message to you?

Seek shelter in the strength of the overpassto protect you when storms threaten to silence your song.

Absorb the skyline for safekeeping when dreams teter on the pier.

And most importantly, believe the bridge will take us where we need to be,for we have put all we have into it.

That is enough.
