Our topic focus this week is an art project on fossils1. DrawingLook at the pictures of ammonite fossils (see resources)
Use pen and ink/fine line pens/pencils to make a series of small scale drawings to show the ammonite’s features (use cross hatching/hatching/shading to show texture and shape
2. Pattern, form and shapeUse the Fibonacci picture cards to create a series of thumbnail drawings to capture the patterns.Choose one drawing and create a simple motif (see ideas in resources)
3. Ammonite SculptureLook at images of ammonite sculptures.Your challenge is to create a 3-D sculpture using air drying clay (or plasticene/play dough/any other modelling material)Experiment with techniques such as rolling and coiling.Use tools to create texture.You might like to paint your sculpture when it is dry

Describe a characterImagine you have just entered the heart of a volcano and come face to face with the fire demon that lives there. Describe what you see and hear as well as how you feel. Remember to include powerful descriptive phrases, similes and metaphors. (use the writing template for lesson 5 if you wish – or present your work in a different format (maybe you could word process your writing)
